Music sure has changed since 1971! I was eleven back then and most of these are stone cold classics!

I'm familiar with everyone on that list except for Frank Pourcel. Not that I pay attention anymore, but I'm sure that I'm totally unfamiliar anyone on today's top 24.

Just graduated high school and started college by end of 71’. I have 14 of those top lips on vinyl. That week in 71 200 Motels is playing at the Lincoln Theatre in New Haven on its limited run. I see it 3 times that week. Gosh if I could turn back the clock to that time.

But Robert, you were smart to see it THREE TIMES! Most never ever had the good sense to see it once. Hoo-ray for you!

Wow: I actually like the first 9 & 5 of the others. That doesn't usually happen for me on sales charts!

Reissues are the "Way of the World". I am saying this because I am listening to Cheap Trick as one can surmise.

I was 10/11 but, thanks to having older brothers, I was already playing many of those albums.

It's kinda funny though...... I was in bed one night back in '71 and had the radio on. Iron Man came on and it scared the shit outta me, the intro guitar with the vibrato bar. I had yet to be introduced to heavy metal. That didn't come till a friend turned me on to KISS in 1976. Then my life was ruined. :D

That's funny :D "Revolution 9" used to scare me. Also, I had a friend who was a great guy, but when he came over he would never leave. He hated the song "Iron Man", so it became known that I would play that one when I wanted him to go home.

I just saw GHOST last night in Brooklyn with my son and they are a "scary" metal band with songs about Satan and ghouls but on the way home Ozzy's Boneyard on XM played Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath. He had never heard that song, now that's scary metal! :D

I was a week short of 12, and mere months short of flowering into power pop petals.

I had just turned 11 and Jimmy was 15. Like 18 of those records were in heavy playing rotation in Jim’s room where the stereo was. By my count we knew all the songs word for word on 12 of them within a month or two. Also we probably knew most of the Carpenters, Glen Cambell and Mowtown hits from the radio (am and/or fm) which we were still listening to when a record wasn’t spinning. His collection was probably around 1,000 then as he was in high school which was when the whole thing exploded. College quad room had one wall completely covered floor to ceiling. Everyone at SUNY Albany had heard about him. I was in that room once. I remember being a little scared in there thinking that all college rooms must look like this. :-o
