I've owned a very nice sounding, ripped from the alleged master FLAC copy of this album for years. This will be an instant buy, if for nothing else than to give the royalties their due.

It's inexplicable why Columbia would've cancelled the release of this in 1981. Almost everything Chic was involved with at this time became a substantial hit.

Because they deemed it "too black sounding", which would supposedly alienate his audience. Motown, of all labels, felt the same way about their original production/mix of Diana Ross's Diana, which is why that was largely glossed over for its release, with less guttural vocals from Miss Ross.

I didn't even notice the art above until you mentioned it. MUCH better. I wonder if it was the original album art, and it just wasn't (re)discovered until now.
