I like. Anyone know who exactly is in the band? I THINK that year would be Gabrels/Dorsey/Garson & some drummer? I hope........... Also, wondering if the dvd will include 24 bit audio. If not, I'll likely get the hi-res download (HRDL is confirmed per Rolling Stone).

I've played all but 4 tracks. I find most of it disappointing. It seems to be a temporary reversion to the Let's Dance period AFTER the superior techno period.
It's not at all awful, but did we really need another Serious Moonlight when there is so many truly great live shows that are unofficially released?

Thanks Geff, I'll await a used a copy. I would have expected a more Electronic album, His records from the 90's were terrific.

After loving the 1995-1997 tours, with often radical rearrangements from Bowie's back catalog and mercifully few "hits" in his setlists, I've always felt the 1999 HOURS-era shows were a letdown; the arrangements mostly (but not always) reverted back to their studio versions, the band seemed a little too laid-back, there were more hits in his setlists that I needed, and of course the HOURS material itself was neither his best nor improved by being played live.
All that said, I think the 2000 shows - both GLASTONBURY as well as the LIVE AT THE BBC disc included with BOWIE AT THE BEEB - show a move back in the right direction: there's some interesting stuff from the back catalog again ("Station to Station", "Wild is the Wind"), the band is improved by bringing back Earl Slick (sharper edges), there's nothing from HOURS (yay), and there's is just a little bit of playing with arrangements again (just a little - "China Girl" being done more like Iggy's original version, for example). I don't think these 2000 shows stand up against the later Reality Tour, by any means, but for me they are an improvement over the 1999 mini-tour dates.
All in all - this is a great release and another welcome archival surprise (making 3 in a row - CRACKED ACTOR, WELCOME TO THE BLACKOUT, and now GLASTONBURY 2000!)

Agreed that Hours was a weaksauce album and the songs didn't play well live, but I actually liked Outside a whole lot less! Those interludes between songs, woof! So Earthling and Hours we're improvements in my mind. (Though his last 3 albums are among his best.)

If he's going to be soft (which he is on much of this) I like Hours.

I much prefer Outside live to studio.

You know I don't think I've listened to any Outside live material. I should get on that.

Right? Heavy Bowie is best Bowie but an album full of tributes to his new love Iman is not that bad.

I liked the songwriting on Hours, though I haven't played it in a long time. As a DB fanatic, I'm glad to have this, but I wasn't even aware he had done a tour this similar musically to Serious Moonlight. Funny, just about the only Techno I like is Bowie!

Interesting, I don't really see the 1999-2000 tour dates as all that similar to Serious Moonlight. Serious Moonlight actually DID have some rearrangements of classic material in there - check out "Stay", "Young Americans", etc. Horns and synths are worked in everywhere (even "Station to Station"!) It wasn't nearly as radical as 1995/7 or even 1976 but the 1983 arrangements rarely sound like the studio LP cuts, whereas far too many of the 1999/2000 arrangements do, to my ears.
