(hennemusic) Queensryche shared a new update with fans via social media about the band's work on the follow-up to their 2015 studio album "Condition Human," which was their second studio album with vocalist Todd La Torre.
"Ed Bass throwing down the last 2 songs with Chris Zeuss Harris in the studio!," posted the group on social media alongside an image of bassist Eddie Jackson recording with the producer. "We only have vocals and guitar solos to finish, but we're very happy with the direction of the new album!"
The Seattle rockers also provided the latest details about the status of drummer Scott Rockenfield, who stepped aside from touring last year to spend time with his newborn son, Rockson; in his absence, the group brought in former Kamelot sticksman Casey Grillo for live performances.
"And for those asking again about Scott and whether he has quit the band - he has not quit the band," added the group. "He told us he's taking time off and we have no time frame on when he will return. We thought he would take few months off, obviously he doesn't want to tour right now. There is nothing more we can say about it and we can't be more honest about it than that."

The drum thing is turning into quite the tempest in a teapot. They won't say who's playing drums on the record, and when asked, Grillo denied being the new drummer for the band.

That's why there's been so much controversy - they have a capable drummer in La Torre, but they also have a very good drummer in Grillo touring with the band, and Rockenfield has a home studio.
So who the fuck is drumming on the record? The band won't answer the question.

QUEENSRŸCHE To Release 'The Verdict' Album In March; U.S. Tour With FATES WARNING Announced
Rock icons QUEENSRŸCHE will release their new album, "The Verdict", on March 1, 2019 via Century Media Records. The band's forthcoming release was produced, mixed, and mastered by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (ROB ZOMBIE, ICED EARTH, HATEBREED) at Uberbeatz in Lynwood, Washington; Planet-Z in Wilbraham, Massachusetts; and Watershed Studio in Seattle, Washington. Pre-orders and formats will be announced soon.
"I'm extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish on this record," states QUEENSRŸCHE vocalist Todd La Torre about "The Verdict". "The relentless dedication and hard work of everyone involved has been very rewarding. I am excited and looking forward to it no longer just belonging to us, but belonging to the world. We hope you all enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it!"
Michael "Whip" Wilton (guitar) adds: "'The Verdict' is the most metal and the most progressive record we have made in a long time. I couldn't possibly be more excited for everyone to hear this."
To support "The Verdict", QUEENSRŸCHE has also announced a spring U.S. headline tour with special guests FATES WARNING. THE CRINGE will be joining both bands on select dates. The tour will kick off on March 2 in Orlando, making stops in major markets such as New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles, and will wrap on April 3 in Seattle.
Todd spoke about "The Verdict"'s musical direction with Eclectic Arts, saying: "It's got more driving songs on this record than the last one… I think there's elements that are more progressive — some different time signatures. It's a good-flowing album.
"There's some slow, kind of haunting, creepy, cool stuff on this record," he continued. "Like I say, there's more progressive elements on this one, I think — certainly more, I think, than the last one. The song 'Condition Hüman' was kind of progressive in QUEENSRŸCHE's standards, so there's kind of some of those elements going on. Really good lyrical content — thought-provoking stuff. Certainly never trying to tell anyone what to think, but to think. Again, a lot of it deals with things that are happening in the world that everyone can identify with and relate to. I tried to have some really good vocal acrobatics on this [album]. There's not a ton of high singing, but there's some high stuff on there vocally. I mean, it just sounds like a great QUEENSRŸCHE album to me. But you never know until you put it out to everyone, and then it's not yours anymore."
For the past 18 months, drummer Scott Rockenfield has been taking time off from QUEENSRŸCHE's touring activities to spend time with his young son, who was born in early 2017. Filling in for him is former KAMELOT drummer Casey Grillo. However, QUEENSRŸCHE has not yet indicated if Rockenfield was involved with the making of the disc, although it did confirm that Grillo did not play on the record.
"The Verdict" will mark QUEENSRŸCHE's third full-length release with La Torre, following the departure of Geoff Tate in 2012.

The band finally admitted (on Twitter) that Todd did the drums on the record. Took a question from Eddie Trunk to get an answer though.
Quote:
Scott won’t give us a statement. Due to his hiatus, we thought the most logical way to continue the album would be to keep it within the band, without an outside drummer, that’s why we used Todd.

Well, hopefully no one pre-ordered via Pledgemusic....
Posted this morning via the page and on various band FB accounts:
Quote:
Dear Pledgers,
It is with collective heavy hearts that we are writing to inform you that we have all been bamboozled by the people at Pledge Music. The platform informed some people that they were having money troubles but we have now also been informed that they do NOT have the monies that were pledged to Queensryche. This means that manufacturing nor shipments can be fulfilled.
We have been lied to for months and months by various people at Pledge and have now turned this entire mess over to our attorneys. As a pledger, please get to your credit card company NOW and DEMAND a refund.
We are not alone in this matter, as it has been publicly made aware that many other artists have been affected as well.
We are truly sorry for this and any inconvenience this causes but please do understand this is all out of our control and as we said before, the Pledge folks lied and lied while they mismanaged the monies of the company.
Forever Screaming in Digital, Queensryche
PS, if you pledged for liner notes, your name is included.

I read the statement on the front page of Pledge, and I'm getting the vibe that Pledge will never recover from this. I don't think I've ever placed an order through them and am pretty unlikely to do so now.

I've used Pledge in the past but haven't for awhile. The British band IO Earth on the cruise did mention that they will not use PledgeMusic anymore because of not being paid in a timely fashion and they had to use credit cards to finance their last recording. They mentioned that before this weeks news.

Finally got caught up with CD listening enough to order a bunch of newer releases this weekend. This was on the list. Very disappointed to see that labels like Nuclear Blast and Century Media are now starting to issue some CDs with multiple bonus tracks in Europe only and only releasing a "regular" version in the USA. Saw a quote from one musician that CD sales are even more pathetic in Europe than they are in the USA, so these labels are now using the bonus track feature to try and sell some copies.
This Queensryche CD has been issued in Europe with a 9 song bonus disc that has some interesting stuff on it. At first I could only find ONE webshop in Europe that had it available and that shop was charging a ridiculous amount for shipping. Circled back to Amazon UK (where I had started), and discovered that the user must type in "Queensryche The Verdict Limited" to actually get a link for the 2 CD version (their search engine is going way downhill, just typing in "Queensryche The Verdict" will not show the 2 CD version).
The new Soilwork album is another good example. Look at any webshop in the USA and it appears there is only 1 version with 12 songs, but in Europe there are 2 versions and 1 of those versions has 16 songs. I could not find this deluxe version or the Queensryche 2 CD version at any North American webshop, and that includes the biggies like Amazon and ImportCDs. Every North American site that listed the Queensryche 2 CD version currently shows it as being out of stock.
Looks like Amazon UK is going to get a whole bunch of my business in the future if this trend continues. Have to say there are few things in life as annoying as wanting to buy 10 new releases, and having to spend a couple of hours looking through label websites, Wikipedia and discogs to make sure there isn't a version hidden somewhere out there in the world that has a bonus song or two. Then, of course, there is no chance that one vendor will have all the "special editions" that the customer wants, so the 10 discs has to be split up into 3 different orders from 3 different companies to get the versions she/he wants. I really got sick of this crap years ago but now it looks like the problem is back and will be as bad as it ever was.
For those interested, the track listing on disc two of the Queensryche limited edition: 1. I Dream in Infrared (Acoustic) - new 2018 recording 2. Open Road (Acoustic) - new 2018 recording 3. 46 degrees North - studio track recorded during the Condition Human sessions (*) 4. Mercury Rising - studio track recorded during the Condition Human sessions (*) 5. Espiritu Muerto - studio track recorded during the Condition Human sessions (**) 6. Queen of the Ryche (Live 2012) (***) 7. En Force (Live 2012) (***) 8. Prophecy (Live 2012) (***) 9. Eyes of a Stranger (Live 2012) (*) - had been released on a 7" single, news to me as I hadn't heard of these songs (**) - had been a bonus song on some European versions of the Condition Human CD, already have this in my collection from doing the hours of research when buying the last Queensryche CD (***) - assuming that these are the same versions that were bonus songs on the Queensryche CD So it looks like there is a bunch of recycled stuff here but still has some studio stuff not in my collection and does a nice job of catching all the misc. odds and ends from the post-Tate era.
