'The Searcher' - Elvis Presley. Not having HBO this was my first viewing of this documentary. So really enjoyed it, many photos and film clips I had never had seen before.

And because they gave the material plenty of time to tell it's story it was allowed to be detailed and linear which allowed I to became totally immersed. The last time this happened to me was with the great Bob Dylan 'No Direction Home' documentary.

Elvis Presley, a story we all know so well but yet in this presentation it was really refreshing and educational. Once again HBO does a bang-up job !

Only complaint that there was no Blu-ray offered. Oh well, the DVD did look great.

Major disappointment that there is no BD.

True BUT do not let deter from getting this. It is so excellent!

There are definitely Blu-ray versions coming in overseas markets... maybe there will also be a domestic release sometime closer to the end of the year.

I am definitely wondering about that. Even the digital copy included with the DVD redeems in SD.

This was a nice surprise.Having Priscilla Presley as executive producer,you might expect a shallow hagiology but we're spared that.The movie centers on Elvis' musical breakthroughs;his personal dramas are put in the background.It's also candid about how Elvis failed himself creatively.
It's worth the time to learn or remember why Elvis mattered.

I really enjoyed this despite the fact i'm not a fan. Totally respected him after watching it
