Max Bennett - famous bass player/session musician. Occasional member of the Wreckin Crew, played with everyone from Joni Mitchell to the Monkees to the Partridge Family. Bass player for the LA Express and also the main bass player on what I believe is the greatest lp of all time - Hot Rats. He did other studio work with FZ in the late 60's and early 70's

From Wikipedia- "I was not familiar with Zappa’s music. Our paths never crossed. I was never a big fan of avant garde music in that sense. It was while I was working in the studio, what was it, 1967 [sic], I think? And I got a call from John Guerin. He said, ‘Get your stuff over to TTG’—that was in Hollywood—‘I got a double session for you with Frank Zappa.’ So we get there and we worked two double sessions for two nights. And that was the album, that was Hot Rats.” He also played on later Zappa albums such as Chunga's Revenge.[2]

RIP - thanks for the music.

I'm embarrased to say I've never heard of Max Bennett.

Impressive resume.

RIP.

Wow. Was just listing to this recently. A straight ahead jazz LP he recorded for Bethlehem in 1955. RIP.
