Description Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a re-mastered and expanded edition of the classic album Live in Concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra by Procol Harum. Recorded on 18th November 1971 at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Canada, the album captured a truly magical performance by Gary Brooker (vocals, piano), B.J. Wilson (drums), Chris Copping (organ and harpsichord), Alan Cartwright (bass) and Dave Ball (guitar), the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Da Camera Singers. Classic Procol Harum material such as ‘Conquistador’, ‘Whaling Stories’, ‘A Salty Dog’ and the epic ‘In Held ‘Twas in I’ were beautifully arranged by Gary Brooker and the resulting album was one of Procol’s most successful and spawned a hit single in ‘Conquistador’. It remains one of the finest collaborations between a rock band, orchestra and choir. This new expanded edition of Live in Concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra has been newly re-mastered and includes five bonus tracks (two previously unreleased), drawn from the B-side of a single and the rehearsal sessions for the concert. The release also includes an illustrated booklet featuring material from Gary Brooker’s personal archive and an essay by Procol Harum authority Roland Clare.Tracklist 1. Conquistador 2. Whaling Stories 3. A Salty Dog 4. All This And More 5. In Held ‘Twas In IBonus Tracks: 6. Luskus Delph (B-Side Of 1972 Single) 7. Simple Sister (Rehearsal Version) 8. I am interested, though it's a bit frustrating that I bought the Repertoire with 1 bonus track (Luskus Delph ) a few years back.

For me, I feel like I'd be spending $20 for rehearsals of Simple Sister & Shine On Brightly. Cut the price in half, or go a much deserved 24 bit, & I'd feel differently.

I can remember that this album hit the cut-out bins in 1974, for about 99 cents for vinyl and even less on 8 track. How times have changed.

I remember complaining that cd's were $12.99 when LP's were $7.99. Now it's the opposite; new pressed vinyl is over $20.

I bought a remastered version of this in 2009 on the Salvo label. It had the first three bonus tracks.

So far the Esoteric's have been better than the Salvo releases IMO, I expect the trend to continue. If you ever see the Mofi for a decent price grab it, it is fantastic.

I have the original CD and the Repertoire label remaster with the bonus track Luskus Delph (great song!). That's all I need.
