They played this on BAB this morning as we were waking up (our alarm) and we both almost fell out of bed! Holy hell! You should have heard the radio listener comments that followed.

Did Yoko write "Imagine"? According to the album liner notes, "Imagine" is a pure John composition. She probably sat on the floor when John wrote and played it and thinks that she contributed. Or it could be a completely different song that I am not aware of.

Over the past few years Yoko has been acknowledged as contributing to the song, and this has been supported by some comments Lennon gave in interviews that he was selfish at the time of the song's release and should have credited Ono. But really, looking at his comments, I think he was inspired by some of the poems in her book Grapefruit (one of which was reproduced in the LPs liner notes) and that was her contribution. It seems to be that he wrote the music and lyrics. But as of June 2017 she was awarded co-writing credit. https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-40286790 I am not a fan of this kind of revisionist changing of credits, particularly when the main individual is long dead.

I listened to Warzone, but I've never been able to listen to any of her music without laughing. This was no different. I've always been convinced that she's just completely taking the Mickey, and cannot take her recordings seriously on any level.
I think she's deliberately unlistenable. It's some kind of performance art thing on one level - like an audio version of Marina Abramović - intended to be confronting and to make the audience uncomfortable ("art" by some definitions). On another level - the one I appear to be on - it's just completely hilarious. I mean, I think it's awful, but I think she knows it is and wants it to be. That's only my opinion, of course, but I don't think anyone could review that with a straight face and recommend it to any audience comprised of anyone who actually enjoys music.

I ask for your forgiveness in advance. I'm not going to say the following:
"Noriega became an embarrassment to the U.S. (at best), and President Bush ordered forces into Panama City to arrest him in December of 1989. The dictator squirreled himself away at the Vatican Embassy in Panama, while U.S. troops blared Yoko Ono music at him as part of “psychological warfare.” He was soon captured and taken to Miami."

The posted marketing blurb says Yoko revisits 13 of her songs. Imagine is the 14th track.
