Roger Waters hints at a forthcoming Animals 5.1 edition during this interview on Holland's NPO Radio 2:
Listen at approximately 14:25, where Waters says:
Quote:
I've just been working with Po. There’s a reissue of Animals, I think, a 5.1 remix of Animals, and so he came up with some new photographs of Battersea Power Station, as it is now, to use as a CD cover for the new 5.1 mix. It's beautiful.
"Po" is Aubrey Powell of the album cover design company Hipgnosis. By "CD", Waters surely means a CD/DVD or CD/Blu-ray set.

Roadie: "There goes Peter Frampton's big finale...he's gonna be pissed off." Peter Frampton: "You're damn right I'm gonna be pissed off! I bought that pig at Pink Floyd's yard sale!"

It needs to have the 8-track version of "Pigs on the Wing" with Snowy White's guitar solo and the Oakland, CA show from 1977.
And some dates from the 1975 tour that featured embryonic versions of "Sheep" ( then called "Raving and Drooling") and "Dogs" (called "You Gotta Be Crazy") would be nice.

Would love to see a four-disc set like this:
Disc 1: original album
Disc 2: alternate versions
1) Pigs On The Wing (complete version) 2) Dogs (You've Got To Be Crazy demo version) 3) Sheep (Raving And Drooling demo version) 4) Pigs (Three Different Ones) (demo version)
Discs 3 & 4: Live At Oakland Coliseum 1977 (13 tracks)

Nick Mason says plans to remaster Pink Floyd's 1977 album Animals have apparently hit a bit of a snag. Archivists are struggling to find additional material to complete the set.
Lots of rare Pink Floyd nuggets like the unreleased 1967 single "Scream Thy Last Scream / Vegetable Man" finally found a home on 2016's The Early Years 1965-1972, and there apparently isn't much left in the vaults. Asked by Rolling Stone if the Animals reissue would include unearthed concert recordings, Mason laughed and said: "Not that we can think of – but we'll keep looking."
Roger Waters has already confirmed a forthcoming 5.1 surround mix of Animals, complete with a cover featuring new photographs of Battersea Power Station by Aubrey Powell of Hipgnosis.
Mason's full interview with Rolling Stone can be found in our thread for his forthcoming 3CD box set of solo albums, here:
