Description
An exquisite pairing of talent, the duo of Carla Olson and Gene Clark. The feeling of spontaneity and closeness of spirit engulfs all of the cuts here. Olson's strident and powerful vocals mesh beautifully with Clark's slightly world-weary, soulful performances. As for the material, both songwriters obviously put their best foot forward here. Olson's "The Drifter" and "Are We Still Making Love" are excellent country-folk outings. Clark contributes one of his finest later compositions, "Gypsy Rider," a multi-leveled song that can easily be viewed as autobiographical. Chemistry is the operative word here. The only sad thing is that So Rebellious a Lover was to be the only studio effort by the duo before Clark passed away in 1991. This record is important not only for what it is, but for what it could have become.

i kind of want to comment on their apparel, but i really don't know what to say.

Great album BUT:
This is the fourth version of the album on CD, unless I missed one or two.

Because whoever owns it licences it out for a limited time to a label, then after those rights expire licence it to another label, thereby maximizing their profit from assets they own.

Yeah they were al released in different years but was wondering what Gene Clark fan does not already own one of the three I listed? Unless this one has new bonus tracks I will stay with the three I own.

Great album that should be available to folks discovering Gene. Always happy to see stuff return to print. Will look forward to the tracklisting.

Bump: Added the description and tracklist to the first post. This will be a reissue of the Fuel/Varese expanded remaster from 2003, with the same six bonus tracks.

The Fuel 2000 has the best track listing so at least they are redoing the right one. It has the song that was exclusive to the Demon CD (Lovers Turnaround).

Pretty sure the rights are owned by Saul Davis (Gene's ex-manager and Carla's husband). He's also the one who has been issuing the Phil Seymour music on various labels (including Sunset Blvd).
