I am not sure how many here know about these guys outside of their collaboration with Rush but there is an upcoming box set by Canada's Max Webster coming on September 29 via Ole Records Canada. Personally I prefer their music over Kim Mitchell's solo stuff (which is also worthwhile hearing)

CD and Vinyl links below. The entire set is remastered and features the hard to find Live Magnetic Air, a Rarities disc and Kim Mitchell's EP previously released on Wounded Bird.

Cats in the bag the neighbours holler, this party's higher than the Eiffel Tower.

When released I will report that the DR numbers are single digit and they are not HDCD to get the discussion going. No other Canadians here huh?

I'm Canadian, but never really got into Max Webster beyond the hits. I have half their albums already but never play them. At the time, I was more into Klaatu and Garfield for my Canadian content. I was going to comment when you first posted about the box, but realized I had nothing to say.
Didn't stop me this time, though.

I already own the albums on CD so it will be for the rarities only. The original Anthem CD's sound great, the inclusion of "featuring Kim Mitchell" on the front artwork was the only flaw. It was an attempt to get the Kim Mitchell solo fans to go back in time but a sticker would have sufficed.

I'm not familiar with Max Webster, but do own Kim Mitchell's first two full albums on CD. Why would they include his solo EP in this collection, other than it being a rarity?

It was on Anthem, so it looks like they are issuing everything on the label Kim was involved with. He moved to Alert Records in Canada for Akimbo Alogo.

After watching the box go from the low-90 dollar range, I finally bit on this. The price was/is $49.65

Get it while hot.

You'll like it. I didn't know much of Max Webster, but so far, I like what I hear. I'm going chronologically and I like how good this band was right from the beginnings.

Their zenith was High Class In Borrowed Shoes IMO. Most people know them for Battle Scar but they have much stronger material on the early LPs

Jammed to that one today and liked it quite a bit. It still amazes me as to how short albums were in those days. :ohyes:
