Just what we need, 2 more (?) songs added to the last expanded version? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
There will likely be a brickwalled 24 bit dl in addition to the 24 bit brickwalled blu if the studio DE's are any indication.

Be enthusiastic, don't be Eeyore. The Blu-ray Audio will probably be a nice pickup, if the previous ones are any indication.

I still prefer the fan produced SACD of the first 5 albums to the official 24 bit releases.
Mr. Page hears audiophile music differently than I do (that often seems to happen when older musicians remaster their own recordings. I wonder how much of it has to do with hearing loss on the part of hard rockers who've been exposed to high db levels for 30-40 years? Martin Turner's remasters of a couple of the early Wishbone Ash album & the first WA box weren't good sounding either; the Japanese SACD of Argus sonically destroys the Turner master).

I might get the blu-ray if there's a 5.1 mix. Otherwise, nothing for me here that I don't already have.
This was the black sheep of the Zeppelin catalog -- the first remix/remaster didn't appear until 2007.

This reissue is no different than How the West Was Won, nothing new other than the hi-res/blu-ray option. Here's hoping they restore the full-length versions of Whole Lotta Love and No Quarter. Those film edits on the last expanded remaster were annoying, but I'm not holding my breath. Nevertheless, I'll grab the blu-ray.

If there is a 5.1 mix it could very well be the same as the mix on the Blu ray video disc[one can only hope it's a different mix].

I mentioned recently that io my ears the original DVD-A release of When The West....... was superior to the new remaster.

Jimmy says give to its hurts people. And $250 (price on Amazon at present) will inflict a lot of pain on the wallets/credit cards. I might get the Blu-ray if it is the original mix (not likely though).

Truthfully, I prefer How The West Was Won.

No interest at all.
The 2007 sounded great to me and it was revelation to hear the album as a much more palatable release with the excess fat trimmed off and the incredible bonus tracks.
Looks like the only added feature is 2 extra songs on the video and it's still separate from the film.
Is this newly remastered? Wait-I don't need it anyway.
Pass.
My guess is Celebration Day would be next (no need to remaster it and the album was awesome) and then FINALLY some unreleased live material?

I own the original 2 CD pressing, I am excited there is a DVD included with a 5.1 mix but my finances no longer allow me to get these mega box sets. I may get the White Album box set if the price is reasonable.

I still haven't gotten around to picking up any of these expanded editions from the past 3-4 years or so.

Rolling Stone Mag wrote: Led Zeppelin will mark their 50th anniversary with a remastered reissue of the soundtrack to their concert film, The Song Remains the Same. The reissue, which comes in a variety of formats with various extras, will come out on September 7th; Led Zeppelin played their first-ever gig on September 7th, 1968 under the name the New Yardbirds.
Jimmy Page personally supervised the remastering of the album, which contains recordings from a three-night stint the band played at New York City's Madison Square Garden in the summer of 1973. The performances, which were featured in the 1976 movie of the same name, include a half-hour–long rendition of "Dazed and Confused" and an extended John Bonham drum solo during "Moby Dick."
In addition to standard CD and vinyl reissues, each of which come with a 24-page or 28-page booklet respectively. Page amended the vinyl edition's track list to include several songs not on the original release and to put the entire performance of "Dazed and Confused" on one side for the first time. The album will also be available digitally and as a Blu-ray audio release. The latter contains video of four songs not in the original film – "Celebration Day," "Over the Hills and Far Away," "Misty Mountain Hop" and "The Ocean." The Blu-ray contains both stereo and 5.1 surround sound audio.
As with all of the band's other reissue, it has planned a fully loaded, super-deluxe box set. It will feature the album on CD and vinyl, a DVD of the original film with the previously omitted performances, a surround-sound DVD with a photo gallery and a high-def download card. It will also contain a 28-page book featuring stills from the movie and an essay by Cameron Crowe (who interviewed Led Zeppelin for Rolling Stone in 1975), a replica of a Japanese film program from 1977 and a high-quality print of the original cover. The packaging will feature embossing that replicate the original LP release of the album; it's also the first time the film and soundtrack have been available together.
The release follows a reissue of the band's live album, How the West Was Won, earlier this year, as well as a Record Store Day single containing rare mixes of "Rock and Roll " and "Friends." The group will also issue a book of photos to commemorate its 50th anniversary in October.

My guess is, they're talking about the extra couple minutes from the 2007 version.

One of the great things about the original album is that the mixes and between song chatter was different.
