Thanks Linda! I have this on order from Amazon Japan. I'll cancel that and buy it domestically.

If these were previously released but rare and hard to find now, where were they first released?.

A few were download only and only released for one day, a few were vinyl with very limited runs (I believe 50 - 100 copies). They were literally only published to prolong the copyright in Europe.

I've ordered this happily, but, and this is just a crazy idea, what if they actually released the copyright collections as legitimate releases.

At least the title is really honest! Remember when Capitol did the same with the Beatles as Sony did with Dylan (MP3 short period release to maintain copyright)

This looks great! For what it's worth, it appears that a lot of thought went into this comp--none of it has ever appeared on any "Bootleg Series" title. The 1962 material was released on CD-r, and 1963 and 1964 stuff was released to vinyl, and the 1965 material was a download. Only the 1966 recordings have been released on CD in the US. This also appears to be comprised entirely of professionally recorded material--no audience tapes. The only questionable audio might be the 1963 performance of "When the Ship Comes In" with Joan Baez--but it was recorded at the freakin' March on Washington for crying out loud.
