Description A little history about Cartoone. In 1969, Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees and songstress Lulu brought their latest discovery English rockers Cartoone to the attention of Jimmy Page....next thing you know, the lengendary Ahmet Ertegun at Atlantic Records signed the band. With friends like that, you can't go wrong! Netting a much anticipated album thanks to the magical single "Knick Knack Man," Cartoone got the supreme chance of a lifetime to open the Led Zeppelin tour that same year. With their solid pop/rock melodies and musicianship, along with the incredible artistry and overall support supplied from Mr. Jimmy Page, their sole album release truly became one of the highlights in the summer of 1969. The four piece band consisted of lead vocalist/bassist Derek Creigan, Chuck Coffils on drums, lead guitarist Mike Allison, and guitarist Mo Trowers. Together this amazing quartet developed twelve new songs that border between the sounds likened to The Yardbirds' Little Games, Bee Gees' Odessa, and David Bowie's Space Oddity l.p.'s. Creigan's voice is impeccable throughout as the late vocalist's songs sounded like those written by more established bands of that era. Sadly, the album has been out of print for over four decades, as the band more or less faded into obscurity after a nice run up the charts worldwide. As Friday Music continues their sojourn of championing the finest rock music ever made, we scoured the Atlantic vaults and have remastered the definitive version of this long lost classic. To celebrate even further, Cartoone's Chuck Coffils also located eight long lost acetate only mono tracks from the unreleased second album, featuring guitarist Les Harvey from Stone The Crows, as well as our find of a rare b -side, which truly makes this the definitive history of this great band's total recorded output. Complete with a new essay, rare unseen photos, notes from Chuck Coffils, original album cover and album label elements, Cartoone is back in a huge way, and Friday Music is proud to be the home of this much loved and highly anticipated re-release. Enjoy!Tracklist 1. Knick Knack Man 2. Withering Wood 3. The Sadness Of Toby Jugg 4. A Penny For The Sun 5. I'll Stay 6. Girl Of Yestereday 7. I Can't Walk Back 8. Let Me Reassure You 9.
