Thanks, guys. I'm not surprised, they always do this. Since Marillion seem intent on making their new general releases pointless, from now on we'll just make threads for their vault releases.

I give enough money to the giants like Super D, Amazon etc., it is refreshing to order direct and hope that the artist gets a larger slice of the pie.

Linda, it's the only way bands can make any significant amount of money on new releases unless they're an Ariana Grande type. Marillion is probably lucky if they see 5 cents out of each wholesale dollar on their EMI releases. I also don't think EMI would even want this plethora of live albums from a band that isn't monster popular.
King Crimson, Pearl Jam, Springsteen, The Grateful Dead & many others often do similar. Marillion's had the "Racket Club" for at least a decade.

No, you misunderstand. If an artist is putting out material in such a manner that tracking the albums through general release channels is pointless, then it's not a good idea to devote individual threads to them. Marillion would be better served for their new releases the way we handle Springsteen's live archive, or The Grateful Dead's, with an ongoing thread in Collector's Corner that links directly to the artist's website and is geared towards posting a series. If you want to do that for Marillion, feel free.

Marillion's release pattern has been fairly consistent for a while now.
New studio releases are initially offered via a patronage platform (e.g., PledgeMusic) or directly from the band with standard and deluxe editions available for pre-order. The material is then licensed to a small retail label (e.g., EarMusic) for general release, and occasionally these retail versions include additional material not found on the other releases.
The band also offers a copious amount of live releases, including direct downloads of most shows and other titles available in varying BD/DVD/CD editions. Some of these live titles are also made available at retail via the same licensing arrangements. All One Tonight is a good example of this, with three retail versions and a website-exclusive box set. EarMusic has also licensed several older titles which are being released exclusively at retail with alternate artwork/packaging.
In short, Marillion's release pattern isn't that different from an artist like Steven Wilson. IMO, licensed titles that are readily available via Amazon should continue to appear in New Releases and From the Vaults, while all other releases can likely be covered in a single Collector's thread.
After all, for everyone who might like to "support the band directly", there are certainly buyers who like easier (read: no importing) and often cheaper buying options via the domestic releases.

Another thing to consider with their stuff is the special edition 2CD / 2 Blu-ray will not make it to the big boys in all likelihood. If you want a copy it will need to be imported unless you want to pay the flippers. The special editions are beautiful, I have most of them missing out on Anoraknophobia unfortunately. I decided to get the big set after considering the one I missed out on.

I pre-ordered the blu-ray edition from AmazWAN a few weeks ago, expecting it to arrive on the release date (Aug. 10), but now it's showing as "Usually ships within 1 to 2 months." Does anyone know why this would already be delayed? Did anyone else get their copy?

Probably because they would get it from Racket Records, the question becomes how many did they order from that label. As mentioned upstream the band does not release everything to other sellers (super deluxe editions for example) so only certain items go to the high volume sellers like Amazon..
It is not OOP so my bet is they are waiting for copies from the supplier. You will love it when it comes by the way.

Good to know. I understood that special editions might be hard to get outside of Racket Records but figured standard CD, DVD & blu-ray would be available on the day of release. Would order it from the UK but used a gift card at the US store so I'll patiently wait for it to become available. Once I saw the preview clip of "The Space" earlier this summer I knew I had to have the blu-ray.

In other words the sets have not made it to Amazon USA yet. If it were the deluxe set I would not wait as it is limited but you will get a copy of the blu-ray

Although the release date for this blu-ray was recently changed to Sept. 21, I received the following notice from Amazon: "Your new estimated delivery date is: Monday, October 22, 2018 - Wednesday, November 21, 2018"
Guess I will continue to be patient, and hope to have it in my hands four months after the release date.
