Description
Three CD set containing digitally remastered editions of the albums The Jukes (1979), Why Is Love Such A Sacrifice (1980) and Live: Reach Up And Touch The Sky (1981). The box contains a booklet with notes by noted journalist Malcolm Dome and contains rare covers and memorabilia. During the band's formative years, Miami Steve Van Zandt acted as the band's co-leader, guitarist, songwriter, arranger and producer, while other members of the E-Street Band including Clarence Clemons, Max Weinberg, Garry Tallent, Ernest Carter, Patti Scialfa, and Soozie Tyrell have all performed, toured and/or recorded with the Jukes. The band's horn section - The Miami Horns - has also toured and recorded with Bruce Springsteen. More than one hundred musicians can claim to have been members of the Asbury Jukes, including Jon Bon Jovi who toured with the band as a special guest during 1990.

I'll assume given the title that this refers to:

The Jukes (1979)
Havin' a Party (1979)
Love Is a Sacrifice (1980)

...which have all been available before. (Unlike some that this languish in the vaults on smaller labels.) Hopefully there's some improvements here, but I doubt there will be.

In addition to The Jukes and Love is a Sacrifice, South released these on Mercury:

* Trash It Up!
* Live at the Paradise Theater
* In the Heat

Having a Party was a compilation from the Epic years.

IIRC, "Trash It Up" and "In The Heat" were both on Mirage, not Mercury. As for "Having A Party", I believe it did contain the Epic material, but I think it was also on Mercury. I don't know what Paradise Theater was on, but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't Mercury. The time on Mercury was fairly brief.

Well, you are both mostly correct. :D

The self-titled The Jukes (1979) and Love Is A Sacrifice (1980) were Southside's first two releases on Mercury. The label then released the two-record set LIVE: Reach Up and Touch the Sky in 1981 to fulfill the band's contract with Mercury.

And, Epic Records did release the compilation Havin' a Party with Southside Johnny in 1979, after the band had parted ways with the label.

Yes...I screwed up...meant "Reach Up & Touch The Sky" as the live album on Mercury but I did say it incorrectly. Good catch!

And another bump to add the description. The tracks in this box set are indeed remastered.
