Anybody have any of their releases? I had never heard about them prior to stumbling over a listing for Billy Squier's "Don't Say No" album. Looks like they are doing both high quality vinyl and SACD reissues. Kevin Gray is doing at least some of the mastering work for them, and he has a pretty good reputation.

I have some interest in hearing what they could do with this Billy Squier album. The original Capitol CD is an absolute keeper and IMO it would be impossible to improve on it's sound if limited to the CD format. But SACD...it might make it worth a re-purchase.

From Joseph's link, I see that Intervention is charging $90 (plus postage?) for the three Matthew Sweet titles. Amazon's initial price is $29.98 each. I'll play the guinea pig for these Sweet SACDs and order them from Amazon right after this post. Surprising choice of artist and I hope it hints at more such titles from this label in the future. The world needs a lot more hi-res power pop.

Not exactly a glowing endorsement, but I'm going to leave my Matthew Sweet order as is. When I get an SACD or BDA, I'm not necessarily looking for things that only dogs and Geff can hear, but a generally "hi-res" experience overall.

Also, we have the best of both worlds in this case. The Intervention label maintains its own Amazon storefront, here:

And the titles are all "fulfilled by Amazon" so they qualify for free shipping even without Prime.

Of the 17 titles sold on the Amazon storefront, only Squier's "Don't Say No" and Stealer's Wheel's first album are available on SACD. All the rest are LP.

Too bad the Joe Jackson's aren't SACD.

They’ve also released the Flying Burrito Brothers ‘Gilded Palace of Sin’ and Murray Head’s ‘Nigel Lived’ albums on SACD, so four in total have hit the streets so far.
The label owner contributes fairly regularly over at SHF and he has hinted that some of the Joe Jackson’s are planned for SACD.
Apparently ‘Starfish’ by the Church is coming too though it’s not clear if it will get an SACD release (I hope so).

While Mofi has slowed down, and Audio Fidelity appears to have stopped completely, this label is just gearing up

Without having heard anything from them; with Kevin Gray's involvement I suspect they're going to be reputable.

At a quick glance, no "Genie (The Second Coming)" or "Swan Song" from the original Japanese Altered Beast CD and no "Speed Racer" from the "We're The Same" single, but I'm pretty sure this is the first digital release of "You". I think "Our Song" and "Walk Out (Alternate Mix)" are previously unreleased.

Amazon's price for girlfriend is currently 23.98...the others still 29.98. Ordered gfs...will wait to see if others drop.

The label had issues with the packaging of one SACD, the others I have bought have been in super jewel cases and first rate all around. As for release dates they are not all Aug releases,the three all have their own release dates. Intervention has a buy now option on their own page where they will ship the discs out to the buyers as they are released. People will get them ahead of those buying from places like Amazon.

This is scary: Pledge is selling these. They note that the mastering is "LOUD" (caps are there's) & consider that as a benefit..........

Thanks. I don't buy direct from labels or specialist sellers because there's no recourse when something goes wrong, so I stick with Amazon only. If you do get any of these SACDs earlier, let us know how they sound. (I mean how they actually sound to your ears, Barry, not how they sound in Geff's worst nightmare from the previous post. )

Amazon knocked down the prices on two of the Sweet SACD titles so it was an easy decision to save the 12 bucks. Not sure if the prices are still offered, it would be wise to compare.

For the live of me I could not find the earlier posting related to the Hybrids...maybe I am late to the party (do we remove the posts when something has been cancelled?). It seems as if they were cancelled as my pre-orders have been cancelled today.

I found it for you, Dan, and merged your post. This was just a general "Intervention Records" thread. Now it includes Matthew Sweet in the title for easier search, but really requires separate threads for each release going forward -- assuming the label isn't going out of business already!

FWIW, Amazon shows the three Sweet SACDs as September, October and November releases now, although the listings are dormant.
