Okay, guys, we now have the full tracklist and a packshot in the first post, and the Amazon UK pre-order link is active. (Amazon's listing currently shows 6 discs and a release date of June 22nd -- it will actually be 7 discs (5CD/2DVD) and will be out on July 20th.)

So basically an upgrade to the 1999 4CD box set, but still a fair bit of overlapping material... I'd like to have this eventually, but no rush for now.

I bought this boxset right around Christmas. There seems to be a mastering defect on disc 2 starting at song # 8 or 9 where the next song starts for 14 seconds at the end of the previous song. I hope I’m explaining that clearly. My question is who do I contact to get a replacement disc ? It’s on the Virgin label of Universal Music. I’ve called a few Universal numbers and tried emailing them. I can’t get thru on the phone and thru email I was basically told there’s nothing they can do. Does anyone know a particular number or email that will get results ?

Are you saying that the song starts early but plays through fine? And that if you were to start playing right at track 8 or 9, it would have cut off the first 8 seconds of the song? If so, that is a disc authoring defect, not a mastering one. In that case all disc 2s would be the same, and Universal should correct it and replace it, but if there has been no news on that front since the set's release in July, it's probably not happening.

The first 14 seconds of song 9 starts during the end of song 8 , and so on for the remainder of the disc. If I was to skip to song 12 it would start at 14 seconds into the song. I’ve read the Amazon US and U.K. reviews and most of them do speak of this problem. Some of them say they were able to get a replacement from UMG and one or two of them say they were told nothing can be done. I emailed UMG and was told they can’t do anything , I also emailed the official PIL site but have not received a reply.

This is incredibly annoying! Definitely should offer a new disc. As an aside, how is the sound, etc., of this box? It fell off my radar till I saw your post about this issue.

I like it a lot. My only complaint is the above posting of disc 2. Besides that I have no complaints. To my ears the sound is great. The live concerts (1cd and 2 dvds) and BBC stuff is excellent. If you’re a fan then you’re already familiar with the b sides and mixes which are just about all here, there might be a couple missing. Nice sturdy box with an interesting hard cover book. I hesitated a few months on buying this because I was disappointed with the extra material and live concert on the “Album” boxset. But like I said , besides the problem on disc 2 , I have no complaints.
As far as the “Album” boxset , the sound is great as is the box and book but they could have easily made it an excellent 2cd set instead of the weak 4 cd set that it is.
