New release from Lloyd Cole, as part of his popular "Folksinger" series of discs. This one is titled "My Austere Demeanour - Folksinger Vol. 3", and was recorded in 2016 following the "Standards" album tour.

From LloydCole.com :

It’s taken a while, I know, but Folksinger Vol 3 is here at last.

Somehow or other, even though it had been my most successful tour in over decade, I never got around to recording the Standards tour. So, over two weekends in late Spring 2016 in my hometown of Easthampton, Massachusetts, I invited fans to visit with me in the studio to recreate the solo set, live. The result is My Austere Demeanour – 19 songs, almost an hour of just me and my guitar, with 30 or 40 people being very quiet.

Track listing – Past Imperfect / Rattlesnakes / Kids Today / Loveless / Can’t Get Arrested / Womens Studies / Medley (Why I Love Country Music / Like A Broken Record) / Blue Like Mars / Are You Ready To Be heartbroken? / Don’t Look Back / Myrtle And Rose / Like Lovers Do / Why In The World? / Period Piece / Weeping Wine / It’s Late / Four Flights Up / I threw It All Away

Recorded and mastered by Mark Alan Miller with a cover photo by Nick Allen taken backstage during the tour. Warrington, I think. Thanks to all who attended and to all who helped with the project. It was less simple than I envisaged, but it’s finally done now. Volume 4 soon.

It’s on sale here. Everything at our shop is discounted until 2018.

It is also available from the Tapete Records webshop.

I ordered my copy last week from Lloyd's webshop, and it just arrived today. It is a pressed silver disc, not CD-R, and Lloyd signed and personalized a message to me and my daughter on the front cover (she and I attended a Lloyd Cole performance together back in 2015).

The disc sounds great, highly recommended

I agree. This is very good. For an aging under-the-radar artist, he does a good job with his releases.

Bill, did you pick up the two Lloyd Cole live sets on Pledge Music last year?

Lloyd Cole Live At Union Chapel , recorded live from Lloyd’s shows on Monday 3rd October 2016 and Friday 4th November 2016 at the Union Chapel, Islington. 2 CDs of "old classics" played by Lloyd solo on acoustic guitar, with special guest Will Cole (Lloyd's son)

Live At Brooklyn Bowl , full band show from Lloyd Cole and The Leopard’s show on Friday, 19th August 2016.

Both are well worth checking out. I think the Leopards' CD set is sold out now, but the solo set is still in print, and both are available for download

Yes I got them both when they came out and really like them. I would love to see him sell some archival shows, particularly from the early 90s. I have some terrific boots from that period.

Do you have Cleaning Out The Ashtrays? There are some great B-Sides on that box. I love his Lou Reed and T Rex covers, not to mention Blame Mary Jane.

There's some filler on it, but the best songs are terrific. I think I'll listen to it right now :)

Not that you need another endorsement after Bill's, but COTA is T-E-R-R-I-F-I-C!!!! Just my 2 cents....from an aging hippie.

I agree! I'm finding that as I get older I'm much more interested in relative unknowns like Lloyd Cole, Tim Easton, Chuck Prophet...guys like that.
