Let's make Renny's day, another Who reissue on the horizon.

Image

Description
April 2018 – the 50th anniversary of these legendary unreleased recordings from the Fillmore East, New York City, Friday April 5 & Saturday April 6, 1968. Both nights were recorded by Who manager Kit Lambert with the intention of releasing as the Who’s fourth album after Sell Out and before Tommy. Songs from the second night have been restored and mixed by Who sound engineer Bob Pridden (who was there in 1968). Remastered for optimum sound quality, this will enhance The Who’s reputation as the best live act of the time, regarded by fans as something of a ‘holy grail’ in live shows. Features stunning extended versions of My Generation, A Quick One…, Shakin’ All Over and many other Who classics. Features two ripping versions of Eddie Cochran numbers – Summertime Blues and C’mon Everybody (the latter unavailable elsewhere), Fortune Teller played at these shows for the first time and unique live versions of Tattoo and Relax from ‘Who Sell Out’.

Tracklist
[CD1]
1. Summertime Blues
2. Fortune Teller
3. Tattoo
4. Little Billy
5. I Can't Explain
6. Happy Jack
7. Relax

[CD2]
1. I'm A Boy
2. A Quick One
3. My Way
4. C'mon Everybody
5. Shakin' All Over
6. Boris The Spider
7. My Generation

With all kidding aside I am really looking forward to this re-master!

The audio is newly remastered, but this hasn't actually been released before.

If it's never been issued before then it's not a reissue.

I am confused . Why is My Generation the only track on the second disc where it could have easily fit on the first disc ?

That's how the tracklist is currently showing at Amazon UK:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B079NBWT35/?tag=imwan-21

It's probably incorrect. There might be more tracks announced for CD2, or maybe the last few on CD1 are actually part of CD2.

Maybe My Generation is a 77-minute version?

That's the vinyl tracklist.

It looks closer to correct, so I've made that the 2CD set tracklist in the first post with "My Generation" (which is mentioned in Universal's official description) as the final track.

We'll see!

I am really looking forward to this- I hope that it shows on Amazon.ca soon. This era of the Who is probably my favorite. Has anyone here heard the bootleg versions? Is the recording pretty good?

I have a boot CD which is not bad but I believe with the proper tapes and technical re-mastering we can find a jewel here.

The boot has been around for ages, and is sourced from a stereo acetate cut down to 59 minutes in order to cram it onto a single LP. It sounds quite good for what it is, but theoretically this could sound much better if they do not screw up the mixing and mastering. The bootleg is drawn from both the 5th and 6th, and apparently this set will be as well, though it's unclear if they will use the exact same performances.

Here's the full bootleg version:

Thanks for that. Great performance! If it sounds as good as (or potentially better than) this it will be great.

Ummm... if they have the full show on tape, and they give it the once over, and both Relax and A Quick One are complete and don't fade out, then this release will be FANTASTIC. It's the definitive Who performance pre-Tommy and fills a huge gap in their catalog-- it's so punky and loud and snotty. Too bad it's missing Pictures of Lily, but hearing the complete version of Relax would truly be a dream.
