Inspired by Trevor over in the Gerry, I got to wondering which comics I would buy from the month I was born.

Why not join in the fun?

Here's what I'd get from March of 1980 (some are just based on the covers... I might not get them after flipping through) --

Except for X-Men (Paul Smith was drawing when I started buying the non-reprint version), I got all of those at the time, and a bunch more.

That’s my favourite Batman era.

What's amazing to me, Hanzo, is I actually bought several of those comics off the newsstand for the month you were born (I was 10 going on 11). It really brings home the nostalgia thinking "Li'l Hanzo was a bay-bay when I was buying those comics).

I don't recall buying any that month, but I recall seeing some of them. And I think I read at least a couple of them later.

Wow, that is quite an age difference.

Of comics for sale in the U.S. in March 1968 I actually have:

"Avengers" #52--Amazing coincidence, when you consider that you can count the 1960s Marvel originals that I actually own on your fingers.

"Jet Dream" #1--Awful comic, but old Gold Key titles are usually at least interesting rarities.

I used to own "Lois Lane" #83. Because how can you resist Lois tearing around on a motorcycle? Notice that she's not just riding pillion as somebody's old lady, either. Go girl!

I've read "Star Trek" #2 in reprint. Don't recall the particular story off the top of my head, but my impression of reading the old Gold Key "Trek" stories is that it took them a while to find their footing.

I'd love to have "Fantastic Four" #75 and "Boris Karloff" #22. You usually can't go wrong with '60s FF and Gold Key ghost story comics.

Not keen on all the rest, just based on covers, but I'd be curious to look through any of them if I had the chance. Except for the Harvey titles. For me "Richie Rich," etc. are the sorts of things that you remember enjoying as a kid, but just can't recapture the interest as an adult. Not everything stands the test of time and nostalgia as well as, say, "Uncle Scrooge."

So, what are you figuring: born in March so grabbing June issues from that year?
I seem to recall about three months difference between the actual date and the cover "pull date."
I'm just wondering if May might not be closer for you. But maybe June is fine.

Apart from the magazines and possibly the Conan (I can't recall), I think I bought all of Hanzo's choices.

Just checking online sources, and many are saying that most comics were dated TWO months in advance.

Using April 1963 for a birthday in June, these are the Marvel comics that I actually own (either originally
my father's or purchased by me as back issues):

Journey Into Mystery 91

Tales to Astonish 42

Strange Tales 107

I own others and some DC comics from that month but only in repeat.
I see the first Doom Patrol issue came out then (My Greatest Adventure #80). Nice.

They let you choose on the site, whether on the shelf that month or dated that month.

I did not ever own any of the comics from the year I was born but I have read several of them in reprint form.

I've got a couple of mine, already. Specifically Claremont/Byrne X-Men 111 (where they're circus freaks hypnotized by Mesmero, which is AWESOME)

And Claremont/Byrne Marvel Team-Up 70, where Thor and Spider-Man save Havok from the Living Monolith (also pretty damn AWESOME).

Just skimming the March 1978 gallery, there is some cool stuff. Claremont's final "Power Man/Iron Fist" comic ... the second issue of Roger Stern's Hulk run ... and What If #9, the first appearance of the team that would later become the Agents of Atlas.

I entered my birth month and year into their system and that's what it said was on the racks. Don't overthink it. :D

I didn't see your link in the first post. I just knew which comics that I had. But I screwed up and subtracted
the two months instead of adding them. So, I have ten comics that were on the stands in June 1963:

Action Comics #303
Superman #163
Superman Annual #7
Strange Tales #112
Strange Tales Annual #2
Amazing Spider-Man #4
Fantastic Four #18
Journey Into Mystery #95
Tales to Astonish #47
Jason and the Argonauts #1

I went to make my selections and discovered I would buy every single one of them (July 1969). And there were 160 comics on sale that month.
