Paul Cotton was always one of my favorite Poco members, love his songwriting and did provide some kick for the band on guitar after replacing Jim Messina.

Description
Poco are a Southern California country rock band originally formed by Richie Furay, Jim Messina and Rusty Young. Formed following the demise of The Buffalo Springfield in 1968, Poco was part of the first wave of the West Coast country rock genre. The title of their first album, Pickin' Up the Pieces, is reputedly a reference to the break-up of The Buffalo Springfield.

This album was released in 1979 and is a compilation album consisting of songs by band member Paul Cotton recorded during the years the band were signed to the Epic label.

Poco have performed in various groupings over the years and are still active.

Tracklist
1. Bad Weather
2. One Horse Blue
3. Western Waterloo
4. Faith In The Families
5. Angel
6. Blue Water
7. A Right Along
8. Ride The Country
9. Keeper Of The Fire
10. Railroad Days

Nice comp. I'm pretty well set on Poco already; I'd guess I have 90% of these, if not all.

cotton has 2 solo albums 'changing horses' and 'firebird' and both are good, not great, but good....if you can find them. 'changing horses' was in every $1 bin for a long time, but i haven't seen it lately.

he was also in a band called illinois speed press, very poco-ish with a little more rock and a little less country. there is a two-fer out there, also if you can find it, albeit it is quite expensive.

I hope somebody represses the Illinois Speed Press. I can't afford the used set.

you know, after reading your post and sitting here thinking about it, richie furay might just be the most un-heralded rock artist ever. the man wrote some amazing songs.

I've had the same thought myself lately, Renny. Since writing my post, I've been listening to a bunch of Richie music, including a newly bought gray-market Live set from 1976. Richie should have much more name recognition and Poco should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Totally agreed, and his was one of the longest interviews in my book.

We spoke for nearly 2 hours and I think I filled 10-11 pages with his amazing stories and the tales of so many great albums and songs and why Poco never became the huge band they should've been.

The original Poco was a great band. I enjoy everything on CBS & the reunion ("Legacy"). I don't like any of the ABC material, too commercial for me.

The Epic stuff was amazing, but the ABC/MCA material I am a huge fan of too, as well as some of the Atlantic albums.
