here is my last years list:

>buckingham-nicks - s/t
>neil young - time fades away
>neil young - journey through the past
>steve miller - rock love
>steve miller - recall the beginning: journey from eden
>bob seger - noah

>bob seger - brand new morning
>beatles - rarities
>beatles - love songs
>stephen stills - still stills
>crosby*nash - the best of (green cover)
>steely dan - 'dallas' and 'sail the waterway' EP
>the second secret policeman's ball (w/townsend) (1 & 3 are on CD)
>roseanne cash - s/t (her true first album)
>dave clark five - the entire catalog
>dave mason - dave mason is alive (supposedly out, but not to be found anywhere)

some lesser know albums, albeit still not on CD as far as I know:

>longbranch pennywhistle
>shiloh
>eric stewart - frooty rooties
>eric stewart - girls girls girls
>ali thomson - take a little rhythm
>ali thomson - deception is an art
>inside moves soundtrack - includes the very rare ambrosia song "outside".
>jim capaldi - electric nights
>richard torrance - other than "bareback" (released in france) nothing.
>the hombres - anything
>richard and the young lions - anything
>the balloon farm - anything
>the woolies - anything

CAME OUT (SORT OF)

"time fades away" came out, albeit only in a 4 CD set, hopefully this year it will be released individually.

eric stewart put out an "anthology" which had 7 of the 9 songs from 'frooty rooties" and 1 songs from 'girls".

i keep hearing the steve miller 'joureny from eden" is available overseas, i have not bought it, and i don't think 'rock love' was released at all.

still have never seen nor found 'dave mason is alive". but it is also supposedly available in japan.

add to last years list:

boz scaggs first solo album - again supposedly in europe, do not know if it real or not.

the doors - 13 - unbelievably not on CD

concerts for kampuchea

hard to believe that we still don't have the buckingham - nicks album on CD isn't it?

25 years ago it was the number one album that people wanted on CD, and 25 years later it probably would still be number one if they did a poll.

I have both of those Steve Miller albums on CD. I can verify both were released last year, as I bought them both on cdjapan. Likewise, I have a Japanese import of Boz, the 1965 debut, released as a mini LP in 2014. It may be a boot but seemed pretty legit to me.

Nothing from my list was released during 2017:

The Beatles' Get Back (Let It Be Naked is not an adequate substitute for what the group originally intended)
The Dodgers' studio and BBC tracks with Tom Evans (there's enough for an album-length collection)
The Pop's catalogue
The Cretones' second album
The Beckies' shelved second album
The Mood Six's shelved EMI debut album from 1982
The Sidewinders' sole album from 1972
Circus' sole album from 1973
Burton Cummings' 1980s albums Sweet Sweet and Heart
The Bottles' sole album from 1979 (and single sides)

And I have one more to add, now:

The Gigolo Aunts' Ultraphonic, their unreleased second album for RCA which was scheduled for 1995 then sunk into a contractual morass. I found out this year that the album nearly did come out as part of a box set in the '00s, but that was also cancelled. :?

I really only have one on my list, and i'd take it as a download, legal or otherwise, if it never sees the light of official CD day-

Image

Australian power pop from 1991. Got the vinyl from Parasol Records when i visited their store in Champaign, IL back in the mid '90s. I'm surprised to not have found a blog that's upped the vinyl for download.

Here's my perpetual list, with a few changes:

1.) Roger Miller - None of his non-compilation albums have ever been released on CD, as far as I know. While there have been some very good comps, many of my favorite songs have been overlooked/ignored. This could be a goldmine for a reissue label.

2.) Herb Alpert - After an extensive reissue program in 2016, Just You & Me is the only Herb Alpert album that's never been released on CD. It's not clear why.

4.) Doc Severinsen - There are some Command Records that haven't been released on CD yet.

5.) David Chesky - Rush Hour (Columbia). The title song was on an Oldsmobile demo cassette when I was a kid, and it sounded great. I'd love to hear it again.

I whine about this every year around this time:

Joanne Brackeen – Ancient Dynasty and Keyed In. Both on Tappan Zee/Columbia.

Both albums feature Brackeen on piano along with Eddie Gomez on bass, and Jack DeJohnette on drums. Joe Henderson plays tenor on Ancient Dynasty.
Truly great albums and considering the giant names involved, it's astounding these never made it to CD. Still enjoy my vinyl though, as well as needle drops for the car.

Didn't I just read about a recent compilation of Tappan Zee/Columbia recordings? You probably saw this, help at all?

Here's the new Tappan Zee comp, due out in February. I just updated the details of that release for you -- it includes one track by Joanne Brackeen:

So are we considering the Vivid Sound Corps' mini L.P. cardboard sleeve release from this year (still available at CD Japan I think) not an official release? It's sounds good, it's not a needle drop, plus bonus tracks!

Would Elton John's 'Friends' soundtrack count, as it has only been on CD as part of 'Rare Masters'?

And a couple EPs on record I believe have never been released on CD, at least in their original configurations: Dire Straits' 'Twisting by the Pool' and Roxy Music's live 'The High Road'.

I'd love to see Rainy Day come out on CD. Being that Omnivore would be the most likely, I asked them and they said they would love to but licensing issues have prevented it

Rainy Day was released on CD in the late '80s:

Amazon USA
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000008JQF/?tag=imwan-20

Amazon Canada
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000008JQF/?tag=imwanca-20

Amazon UK
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000008JQF/?tag=imwan-21

Don't even bother to click, it's very expensive now. I have the CD. A very plain, flat transfer. Omnivore could do wonders with it, if only ....

Nothing from my last list has been released either afaik:

1. Wendy Waldman Which Way To Main Street (her entire Warner catalog is once again oop also) (Wendy sells this as a lossless download)
2. Barry Melton ... The Fish
3. Buddy Miles Live 2 LP
4. Buddy Miles We Got To Live Together
5. Buckingham Nicks (this is readily available on fan club releases)
6. Country Joe & The Fish Reunion
7. David Bowie 1980 Floor Show (I know this is a boot, but Tony Defries appears to have the master tapes as the version of Time from this was on one of his 90's UK rarities collections in pristine remixed sound quality) (this is readily available on fan club releases)
8. David Werner Whizz Kid
9. Duke Ellington - the 50's material that Sony doesn't have in print
10-12. Rick Ruskin All 3 Takoma releases
13. Shari Ulrich Long Nights (I have authorization to sell a needle drop on a burned disc)
14. Neil Young - Journey Through The Past (this is readily available on fan club releases)
15. Shari Ulrich - Talk Around Town (I have authorization to sell a needle drop on a burned disc)
16. Shari Ulrich - One Step Ahead (I have authorization to sell a needle drop on a burned disc)

CO kid beat me to the Dire Straits EP. And I'd be in for the Buckingham Nicks and perhaps Seger's "Back in '72".

Ozzy's "Mr. Crowley" EP hasn't been released as a standalone CD. The two Quiet Riot Japanese albums with Randy Rhoads haven't had a US CD release (and probably won't).

The two Iron Horse albums (Randy Bachman), s/t and "Everything Is Grey" have not been on CD to my knowledge.
