I'm sure I've done this poll before, but what are the holidays if you're not doing the same things every year?

I voted for Scrooged, but it's really a tie between that and A Christmas Story.

Die Hard(it's not the holidays until Hans Gruber falls from Nakatomi Plaza) & How the Grinch Stole Christmas(the animated Karloff version).

Wait, what makes Superman: The Movie a "holiday movie", again?

I went with my favourite movie* again, but am curious - is "Scrooge" what you call A Christmas Carol in America? And if so, is the novel similarly titled?

"Scrooge" is the title of the (up until recently) most widely known filmed version of "A Christmas Carol", with Alastair Sim in the title role. It basically informs most versions of the character that came after it.

Ah well, it was called A Christmas Carol over here, you see. I wonder why it was changed for the American market.

The George C Scott version filmed in 1984 was filmed in my hometown of Shrewsbury. The gravestone they used in the production is still in the graveyard at St Chad's church. This is my son doing an impression of a penguin standing on it

Superman:The Movie was released on December 15,1978 in time for the holiday season.
Only a Scrooge would argue against it.

"Miracle on 34th Street," with "It's a Wonderful Life" as runner-up.

And though I haven't watched it in years (and don't really plan to again), I do have the soundtrack CD to "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," and listened to it this weekend on my way to my family's house for Christmas. Making yourself drive the speed limit while listening to that movie's main title theme is a great way to develop self-discipline.

In Canada as well.....i had to use google to see if it was the same movie.
(also I've never even heard of the movie "A Christmas Story". Pretty odd since the google tells me its very popular.
