Like usual, no rules. Here's the guidelines I used for my list:

Had to include at least some music previously unreleased on USA cd. Official release.

Sources I used were my memory  , Wiki (Unfortunately they don't seem to do reissues & and very little previously unreleased vault) & our Ice Library courtesy of Linda.

My Best Of The Year:

2 albums really stood out for me this year. The rest are in alphabetical order.

1. Dan Fogelberg - Live At Carnegie Hall
2. Neil Young - Hitchhiker

Alphabetical Others

Paula Cole - Ballads
Catie Curtis - While We're Here
David Bowie - Cracked Actor (I prefer David Live, but still nice to have this)
David Crosby - Sky Trails
Deep Purple - All of the Infinite related singles (Would fit on a 2 cd set)
Grateful Dead - The 1977 Box
Jethro Tull - Songs From The Woods DE Box Set
Stills - Collins - Everybody Knows
Richard Thompson - Acoustic Classics #2
Neil Young - Time Fades Away Hi-res Download
Frank Zappa - Halloween Box

Haven't played enough yet, but might be added to my list when I do:

King Crimson - Sailors' Tales
Spock's Beard - Snow Live

Haven't bought yet, but (potentially) what a great reissue:

BGO's Eric Anderson Be True To You/Sweet Surprise - Both never previously released on USA or affordable cd (I have the h-r of Be True & a needle drop of Surprise)

My Disappointments Of The Year:

Disappointing Musically:

Bruce Cockburn - Bone On Bone
Ani Difranco - Binary
Sheila E - Iconic
Steven Wilson - To The Bone
Yardbirds - '68 - What a joke with no vocals.

Music & Sound Quality:

The Tubes - Live At German Television: The Muskladen Concert

Sound Quality (all hi-res):

David Bowie - New Career In A New Town Box
Doors - #1 DE
Marillion - Misplaced Childhood Box
Prince - Purple Rain DE
Spirit - Both AF SACD's (Sadly I'll probably buy the other 2...)

Some 2017 standouts for me (and I'm sure I've forgotten others):

New
The Galileo 7 - Tear Your Minds Wide Open!
The Stars Explode - Too Late To Save The World
The Woggles - Tally Ho!
The Strypes - Spitting Image

Vaults
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (hi-res 5.1 with "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Fields" programmed into the middle of the album)
Chris Bell - I Am The Cosmos ("definitive" deluxe)
The Pink Floyd - 1965-67 Cambridge St/ation ("definitive" box)

"Definitive" in quotes because, in our hearts, we know there will be more. :)

The giant box was 2016, but the year-by-year ones were 2017. I only got the Syd Barrett era.

I'm terrible at recalling release dates, but off the top of my head, as far as new material goes:

Chuck - Chuck Berry
We're All Alright - Cheap Trick
Christmas Christmas - Cheap Trick
From the Fires - Greta Van Fleet
World Wide Funk - Bootsy Collins

I'm sure I'm forgetting a load of stuff.

I don't really buy enough to have a carefully considered "best of 2017" list, but here's what I got:

    Incubus - 8
    Ryan Adams - Prisoner
Foo Fighters - Concrete and Gold
    The Killers - Wonderful Wonderful
    Weezer - Pacific Daydream
Wu-Tang Clan - The Saga Continues

Most everything else I got was older stuff, a lot of hair metal and hip hop.

I thought the U2 was their best in years; though still not as good as the first few.

In 2017 I was unable to buy my normal amount of releases (which had been between 200 & 300 new titles every year through most of my adult life) for various reasons which you can read about here if you're curious:

Glad to hear the Osborne was good; I've been wanting to hear that.
