Good news. David Robinson confirms expanded editions of both Shake It Up and Heartbeat City, hopefully to be released in February, 2018.

What fills your time these days since the Cars aren't active?
This year, I've had to work on a lot of album cover stuff. There's going to be a surprise when you see one of the album covers I've been working on. What I had to do is get extra material, sort of update things, so I would have ended up doing five album covers in one year, expect they pushed back the release dates for Shake It Up and Heartbeat City expanded versions. I think they're going to come out in February, but I'm having a blast doing that. It's time-consuming. I have to work on them today as a matter of fact.

I don't think Shake It Up was ever remastered, so I might get that one.

Depends on if you count the Mobile Fidelity Ultradisc.

I'm talking about CD. The only Cars audiophile CDs I remember seeing were the DCC version of the first album and Audio Fidelity's version of Heartbeat City.

I have the DCC of the first album, but I also have MoFi UD CDs of Candy-O and Shake It Up

It was remastered as part of the box set in 2016.

This will be the same one except with bonus tracks.

An expanded Heartbeat interests me, depending on what the new trax are.

Were there any 12" mixes of the singles from Heartbeat City? I thought I bought a couple.

I'd think they'd add Tonight She Comes.

i think there is an HDCD remaster........

Doubtful as that was recorded in 1985 for The Cars Greatest Hits.

That song has one of the most well-constructed and clever guitar solos ever recorded.

The Panorama and Candy-O expanded editions were very sloppily done. I'll skip these.

i DO hope that the "powers that be" are smart enough to include the remix of "I'm Not The One." (and there's all sorts of peripheral stuff from the Heartbeat City sessions.)

You're giving the powers that be too much credit.

But this is a Rhino release, so hopefully they'll do the right thing.

In for both. I've enjoyed the first 3.

'heartbeat city' is almost a perfect album....by the cars best, even better than the debut IMHO.

While I agree the songwriting is on par with the first album, Mutt’s production has terribly dated this album. It’s the one in the catalog I listen to least (with the exception of the title song).

These were just solicited with a March 30th release date. No other details at this time.
