How many times with these?

The last batch was the best and I'm fine with those.

That was only a couple of years ago.

Maybe it's those being reissued?

I agree with Pete, I was pleased with the recent digipacks (Sony if I remember right?)

All of the UK pre-order links in the first post are now active, and the entire series has been rescheduled so that everything comes out on for March 16th. There will be no bonus tracks, and Universal's latest solicitation doesn't mention new remastering, so let's label them simply as reissues in the thread title.

They were 2012 and 2013 for most IIRC. There are some titles that were not included in the last batch, I will grab them for certain.

Paul Sinclair has indicated that the 2012/2013 mastering will be used where available (Pearce/Wortham). That would leave three CD sets (BBC, San Francisco and Wheels) that are my needs.

For those who didn't pick up the imports, I agree with Eel: they likely are the 2012 masters; they are NOT brickwalled (the 1998 Buddha's were pretty awful sounding). "Calling Card" is missing both of the 1998 bonus tracks, but adds a new one: "Where Was I Going To". "Against The Grain" & "Rory Gallagher" has both of them. "Deuce" is missing one, "Persuasion". "Blueprint" retains the 2 2012 bonus tracks. I haven't checked any others for bonus tracks. These should be a huge sound quality upgrade over the 1998's.

I'm sorely lacking in Rory Gallagher, what are the top 3 CDs I should pick up? Or does he have a box set?

IMO in this order:

1. Tattoo
2. Blueprint
3. Irish Tour
4. Live In Europe

I don't remember a box. There is a 2 SACD best of set you can get cheap, but the sound sucks. It may be the worst sounding SACD I've ever (previously) owned.

1st 2 Rory albums plus Geff's choice

In April I'm seeing Davy Knowles do a tribute concert to Rory near my house at the Boulton Center. Now that should be a good one!

Adding to my earlier post, Tattoo, Defender, Fresh Evidence, Photo Finish & Stage Struck all have the 1998 bonus tracks with superior (probably the 2012) mastering. So these should be absolute no brainers for anyone who didn't pick up the 2012 Eurioean Didpacks.
