Like, Serge, I am amazed that this isn't anywhere here. The first season is streaming on Hulu. (It was on Netflix, but isn't anymore.) The second season is out and airing on BBC America.

It is quirky (Douglas Adams source material, duh), grungy, dirty, funny, odd, compelling and nightmare inducing. For those who are not familiar with Dirk Gently he is a British Holistic Detective, who follows the interconnectivity of life to find the lost cat. This Dirk is somewhat like that Dirk. He is absurdist, prone to literally stumbling onto the truth. In the series he has a serious backstory, though. And companions, for whom this companionship is both life saving and life endangering. Elijah Woods plays one of the companions (Todd), both grateful to and exasperated by Gently. Jade Eshete (possibly one of the most beautiful women who has ever lived) plays Farah Black, a not-quite-up-to-snuff law enforcement officer who has all the moves and instinct, but is somehow broken, just like Todd (and his sister Amanda). Then there is Bart (played by Fiona Dourif (YES BRAD'S DAUGHTER SQUEE!!) and Ken (Mpho Koaho) and Mona (WHO IS MONA) and The Rowdy Three (who are actually four) and so many more.

I made the mistake of watching two episodes back to back last night, so my dreams were full of absurdity and goo and monsters. I may make the same mistake again tonight. I, like Dirk, do not learn from my mistakes.

I enjoyed the first season. As I tend to do with shows these days, I'll be waiting for the whole second one to finish up and then binge through. I hate waiting week to week for the next part of a show. :) Better to constantly be a little behind and always marathoning. I can fill any dead spots with my ongoing Star Trek TNG sequential viewing.

Good call. That is like me and "trilogies". However, I watched 2 more shows back to back last night and, yuppers, nightmares.

I dreamed a horde of judgemental cats held me down in a library, pulled all my teeth out, then hid them in the books.
Are you telling me that this show will worsen my creepy dreams?

I hadn't heard of it; it's in my queue for post-holiday viewing.
