How many threads like this do we need?

Just make one thread for all of Rolling Stone's lists, call it "Fake Music News" and be done with it.

Not surprised.

I can vouch for the quality of the new albums by Beck & Liam Gallagher.

I think I speak for the majority when I say there is zero surprise that you are unfamiliar with most of that list.

This is probably the first time in 10 years that I own an album on their year-end list. The Robert Plant disc, which isn't a bad album but is a completely mediocre album (and I'm not a Zep fanatic that dislikes everything Plant does now...I liked the last record). Almost kind of ashamed that my tastes have declined to the point where 2% of it aligns with Rolling Stone's opinion. I may need to take a shower now.

I will say that the most recent Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age albums have slipped beneath my radar,
and this post reminded me to check them out.

I own (or will own once the new U2 is released) 20 of the 50 on this list. Given that I don't like rap at all and don't like country much, I think that's pretty good. BTW, I'm 52 so you can't use your age as an excuse. Yo, Jimbo, what's your count here?

I am not as hip to current music as Jimbo or Todd, but I have several. There are a few old guys on the list too — Dylan, Allman, et al.

I'm 1 for 50.......I have the Courtney Barnett/Kurt Vile album, and like it a lot.

I'll get the Bob Dylan eventually, since I have most of his other albums.

I have the Buckingham/McVie (it's good), I've heard and considered the Gregg Allman, and I've considered the Foo Fighters.

Somehow, I'm not disappointed to be out of sync w/RS.

Once U2 arrives on Friday, I will own four of these (Buckingham-McVie, Plant and Sam Smith complete my set). I have heard two others (Beck and Taylor Swift) and heard of, but not listened to, 15 more. This makes the RS list about 10X more relevant to me than today's Grammy nominations.

Not that the list really means anything, but I think the Mavis Staples album is a glaring omission.

I have 4 if you include the upcoming U2 album (I get a free copy). Highly recommend the Lindsay Buckingham/ Christie McVie (its truly really really good) and the Beck Colors albums. Beck at #42 is a mistake, should be way lower, another brilliant album by him that I cannot take off the turntable. Check out the title track or the song Dreams!

If I had a say Steven Wilson's newest album To The Bone would make the list.

For those that have a lot of these albums, which ones are so intriguing? And do you play them a lot? Nothing on the list screams must own for me.
