I have the BGO remasters of Live/Tales of the Unexpected/What's Next and IV/ World Anthem. They're great.

I never heard them. I really should check them out. There original label (CBS I think) did an especially disgusting promotional campaign when the 1st album came out, claiming that Marino was literally the reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix (they were actually presenting this as serious). I was so disgusted by the pr, that I never listened to them.

In my second book, which is almost done I interviewed Frank for a couple of hours and he went into detail about that whole Hendrix thing as well as a whole lot more. We talked about life and our successes and struggles and our love for animals and my love for teaching children and his love for music and how it saved him as a teen and it was just amazing. He is such a nice, caring man and a phenomenal talent that few ever discuss, which is why I wanted him in my book. I will get all of these as I've never found anything of Mahogany Rush that has satisfying sound quality except a few of the original vinyl issues.

I wonder how much that campaign damaged his career? I suspect he had little to do with it?

First heard Marino on the two cuts from the California Jam 2 album. Floored me to no end, as it still does today. I love that brilliant Hammond B-3 effect he gets on "King Bee" by tapping the strings. Really hope that some of those great full sets from CalJam 2 will get released someday. CalJam 2 has never been released on CD I believe, tho I have what looks like a legit copy, but is probably not.

I liked it for the most part, but wished there were more songs. We can only hope it'll see a re-release in the future. I have the Aerosmith boot from that and it's horrible sounding.

With "Rock Candy" behind the mentioned titles I am very interested.
And Pete, great news about the upcoming book. This time, I want to find a way for you to autograph it since I don't have your auto on your first.
Actually I need to contact DanO about his as well for the same thing.

Looks like the two bonus cuts on Live are from the CalJam2 album: great versions of "King Bee," and "Johnny B Goode"!

I thought the 2 CD collection that Ace/Big Beat did on the first three albums - Maxoom - Child Of The Novelty - Strange Universe - Sounded pretty good. I already owned the albums, but I found a cheap copy of the disc and picked up
