More from the city park:
From a small pine branch A spider drops past the dawn And keeps scrambling back
Heron by the bank I had wondered where you were On this cool morning
A hollow tapping The woodpecker’s sound vies with The roar of traffic
Down the morning path I walk wrapped in sheer, raw silk Mad at the spiders

And a tanka (a haiku with two lines of commentary or response added)
Spider, you don’t know As you work to spin your web That I could crush you Greater forces are near you As they are also to me

Another morning in the park:
Wings beating softly A silent heron passes Through the chilly dawn
Distant owl calling Soon it will be its bedtime The crickets are gone
Among the tree trunks Pale slices of rosy dawn Day birds are waking

Then I dozed off and awoke again with fever. So I sat up and read until I felt able to go to bed again. I ended up sleeping in until just before getting ready for work. No morning walk today! I probably won't be here all day either.

My left wrist pains me When outside temperature drops Significantly.
Broke it years ago Running from sand to wet grass While playing softball
And it snowed last night The freezing winds were blowing But it's warming up
Rubbed on some Ben Gay (Actually a generic) Now it just tingles

A foggy morning, a couple of days before the current cold snap:
In the morning mist We have a surprise meeting The heron and I
A pair of squirrels Scaling the house’s brick wall Like furry ninjas
Wood-ducks fly over And vanish above the pond Where did they come down?
In the heavy fog The woods seem as faded as This world grows to me I walk the trusted pathway Watching for the coming sun

Mostly taken from my annual round-the-lake hike at a state park, which I did on Good Friday (Google "yatsuhashi bridge" if you have to):
Butterfly, you make A fine hiking companion On this cool morning
Sitting on the bridge Watching the clear creek flowing Through its sandy bed
Almost Easter now The visiting birds have left The lake has grown still
The zig-zag levee— A giant yatsuhashi Between lake and land
Sprays of white petals Show here and there around town Dogwood time is here

More tanka poems this time, because I found myself needing more words:
Three raccoons walking Down the alley past my feet A mother and young The mother pauses to hiss Saying what she thinks of me
Sitting in the park Watching the golden sunlight Of early morning The dark woods out beside me Have turned suddenly to gold
Cricket-sized froglets Evading Godzilla feet As they cross the trail To them I am a monster I’m not trying to be one!
