It would be awesome if this was a collection of rarities, b-sides, single mixes/edits, one-offs and previously unreleased material, but I doubt that's the case. We'll see. Huge Elton fan here, so I'm definitely curious. I own his entire core catalog, so not really interested in another compilation unless there is something unique on it.
2017 is the 50th anniversary of his songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin. It was also Elton's 70th birthday earlier this year. I'm not sure if either has anything to do with this release, but it possible. These box sets are often released in celebration or commemoration of something.

wouldn't sell to the common people........you know, we need another CD with 'bennie and the jets"........be nice if they took out the stupid crowd noise at the beginning wouldn't it?

Great idea! And it would actually cover a longer time span the "To be continued..." did. I think "Come Back Baby" was from 1967, so that box covered 23 years ('67 - '90). It's been 27 years since then. (Damn, time flies!)

Maybe it's a comp of every one of his singles.
The comps out there leave off a number of Top 40 hits and lesser charting singles, and having one that spans his whole career would be nice, especially if it was to include the single mixes.

That would be a great idea, but he's released well over 100 singles, so even if it was just the a-sides, it would take more than 3 discs. And a lot of them had non-LP b-sides which would be the real draw for a singles collection.

That's true as I think he's had 133 singles, although not all of those were typical singles releases (some were reissues or remixes) .
He's had 70 charting singles in the US and even that would take up 4 discs most likely.
So, in other words I have no idea what this comp is!

I forgot to add the key line to my original post that "this will never happen." Would be nice though.

None....yet
I see nothing particularly interesting or rare so it will be a pass from me.
And he's probably my favorite artist all-time especially the early stuff. I have every album and some of the earlier comps but this is beyond what I can justify. Great for someone looking to sample his career though
