Team McCartney has announced that the first fruits of the new contract with Capitol will be CD and vinyl reissues of Paul McCartney's earlier catalogue titles. So far only the albums in the first post have been solicited -- there might be more to come -- and there are no details yet regarding bonus tracks or remastering. The pre-order links will fill in and become active in the coming days.

What is to become of his current reissue program?

The new contract with Capitol Records doesn't appear to include any of the expanded catalogue titles that McCartney released through Hear Music, just the original album configurations, so it's possible that the remastering programme will be restarted from scratch.

In the first post, all of the listed albums are now available for pre-ordering on vinyl; Ram is now available for pre-ordering on CD. More to come!

It's strange that these are basically the same albums that had so far been released as Hear Music deluxe editions. It makes me hope that maybe they will be available in at least the two-CD versions again.

They're the one-disc standard versions with no bonus tracks. Team McCartney has sent out this little description (which I've also added to the first post):

The coloured vinyl versions are limited UK-only releases available through uDiscoverMusic, The Sound Of Vinyl and Recordstore.co.uk. uDiscover will not ship them to anywhere outside of Great Britain. Not sure about the other two sites. They're not $19.98 each (that's the price of the standard black vinyl domestic releases, orderable in the USA from the first post in this thread), the coloured vinyl ones cost £34.99 and up ... apparently based on how expensive each colour is to press! Venus And Mars, pressed in two colours, is the most expensive.

One thing I will say re: PM: he apparently has an audiophile mentality. He has embraced hi-res, & low compression. A couple of the hi-res issues even offered no compression options (Tom Petty is the only other rocker I know of who has released both compressed & uncompressed versions of the same album).

My point is if McCartney is in charge of qc, these will probably sound very good.

Thanks for clarifying Linda. Bummer about the price point. I already have the Deluxe Editions on CD and vinyl, so it's just as well I not get lured into buying these again. I'll be looking forward to purchasing Wings Wild Life, Red Rose Speedway, London Town and Back to the Egg sometime around 2028.
