From a 1982 issue of Musician magazine (remember that great mag?!). I still had all my copies from the 1980s—along with 30+ years of complete Down Beat, Guitar Player, and Modern Drummer—until a few years ago when I moved to Florida. Gave them all to Goodwill.

Musician ALWAYS had the best interviews: Johnny Cash, and Keith Richards immediately come to mind.

Musician was really good. Fripp had a regular column for quite a while.
I don't remember reading this interview before. I always thought that McLaughlin, and particularly his work with Mahavishnu Orchestra, was a huge influence on King Crimson.
Thanks for the link.
