Let's see; the DCC Gold, the AF SACDs and a Door's DVD-A box. So that's 3 copies of 6 each individual title. Summation 18 I count but I ran out of fingers so I may wrong. Of course this is across multiple decades therefore don't take off any points teach. I can only get them when they are available. Yes, I am more than just a completest, I am an evolutionist. Striving to continue to get the best sound I can from one of the Greatest groups ever. By the way their are other bands as well. (Beach Boys, Beatles, ELP, YES etc......) Now the real question is, do I have a higher number count of iterations of these titles compared to your repetitive remarks about the reissues. I think not therefore I concede. Breaking news:There's a requirement of a recount. An overlook of the recently released Door's 1st album box was NOT counted AND a DVD-A 5.1 L.A. Woman Rhino cd as well. This recalculation now resets the final count to 20. (Thank God I have 10 toes to go along with the 10 fingers to ensure a proper recount).

We get it Renny. You have issue with multiple reissues. Some of us don't. I know these posts aren't meant as an attack, but since it's clear there is a market and many of us are happily part of that market, why do you always need to be critical of these releases? If I took it more personally, I would take it as being critical of my taste and desires.

For an example of why some of us like to buy multiple versions of an album, we can use the first CSN album. If you have the first CD released, you have a nice copy of the album. But you like the album, the artist, and are interested in getting the expanded version for the bonus tracks and liner notes. But that version is missing Crosby singing "Come On In my Kitchen" between "Long Time Gone" and "49 Bye-Byes". So if you want the album as originally released you need to keep the first CD, but you want the added material of the expanded version so you need the 2006 as well. Many of us are interested in these permutations for many artists. So we wind up with many versions. It's actually fun for me (and I suspect, for others here on the board), but if it's something that distressed me, I wouldn't do it. As for this release, I'm with Rick A- if it includes the mono mix, I'm in.

The great SACD's (& the ones to own imo) are APO, NOT AF ( I THINK other than the Quad b/o AF only did the Doors on regular cd?). If this is just stereo/mono, especially with the AWFUL mono mastering of the recent 1st DE, it would be MEH at best for me.

If I took it more personally, I would take it as being critical of my taste and desires. a second reissue does not bug me as much as a third and fourth etc, especially when the latter have "bonus tracks" thrown on them........were the artists not aware of those "bonus tracks" when they released it the second time? why wait until the third or fourth time? your fans already bought it 2 -3 times (vinyl and CD and reissue CD) or even more annoying, and i think only the bowie camp did this: reissue with really nice bonus tracks, then say you have improved the sound immensely, and when you re-release with the immensely improved sound....you remove the bonus tracks! WTF and yes, i complain, but i suppose if i didn't someone else would..... an aside; the practice of re-re-re-releasing is becoming more and more widespread as the artists get older and the muse is gone and fan base is dwindling and the CD buyers are dying off, so i'm sure that sooner rather than later i will just give up p.s. someday we need to do a really comprehensive thread on artists who have reissued their catalog more than twice, it could be much bigger than we imagine.

Another reason that is often over-looked for reissuing catalogues over and over is because, frankly, people need a reminder that these titles exist. It creates some excitement that reminds customers and even retailers, about the great material out there. For most artists, just issuing a CD in 1988 and then coasting on that forever is not a wise marketing move. You've got to refresh the catalogue or people forget.

Correct, new generations are continuing to explore classic rock and music that family members had. I saw a 18 year old with all these classic titles at the cash register recently. While we were awaiting our checkout I asked her about her choice and she said that her deceased Dad had always played this stuff when she was young and the music brings his spirit closer to her. Man, I almost started crying right there. I congratulated her on her choice and told her Dad would so proud of her. I know I was. As for stores they require to rotate their inventory so the reissues allow for a restocking availability and hopefully with improvements to the sound and/or bonus features we can reevaluate. Also group licenses changed hands and that allows for reissues as well. Carl Palmer in a recent interview mentioned this about the ELP catalogue and it's reason of the multiple reissues in the last 10+ years.

Less than that and the thread would go on forever. Pretty sure that The Small Faces, Traffic and Free are currently in the lead. I've purchased at least a dozen iterations of each groups' albums in the CD era.

They should get holograms of each of them and send them on tour.

Just got this in am email from Thedoors.com:
2-CD STRANGE DAYS - 50TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION was carefully and lovingly overseen by the album’s original engineer/mixer, Bruce Botnick. It includes the original stereo mix of the album on CD for the first time in a decade, with sound that has been remastered for the first time in 30 years. The second disc features the album’s original mono mix, which has been remastered for this set and is making its CD debut. Accompanying the set are personal tech notes from Bruce Botnick, liner notes by music journalist David Fricke, as well as a selection of rare and previously unseen photographs.
