If you're not nice
Bump: Added the cover image to the first post. It's an appropriate design that's reminiscent of their debut album. (And I just realised that Omnivore went a step further by giving this collection a title beginning with "H" like so many America albums.)

OK, i like america (let's get that out the way) but this is the second one of these they have done (archives vol 1)
An America collector should get both CDs, since they include different material. Compare the new Omnivore release in the first post to the Archives Vol. 1 album from a couple of years ago:
1. Ventura Highway (Alternate Mix - The Record Plant, Los Angeles, CA, 1972) 2. Daisy Jane (Rehearsal The Record Plant, Sausalito, CA 1975) 3. It's Life (Alternate Mix - The Record Plant, Los Angeles, CA, 1973) 4. Rainbow Song (Demo - Buzz Studios, King's Road, Los Angeles, CA, 1973) 5. I Need You (Alternate Mix - Trident Studios, London, 1971) 6. Horse With No Name (Alternate Early Mix - Morgan Studios, London, 1971) 7. Sister Golden Hair (Demo Buzz Studios, King's Road, Los Angeles, CA, 1973) 8. Woman Tonight (Rehearsal - The Record Plant, Sausalito, CA, 1975) 9. Rainy Day (Alternate Mix - Chalk Farm Studios, 1971) 10. Only In Your Heart (Demo Buzz Studios, King's Road, Los Angeles, CA, 1972) 11. Cornwall Blank (Early Rehearsal - The Record Plant, Los Angeles, CA, 1972) 12. Look Up, Look Down (Unreleased Demo - Buzz Studios, King's Road, Los Angeles, CA, 1973) 13. Green Monkey (Demo - Buzz Studios, King's Road, Los Angeles, CA, 1973) 14. Story Of A Teenager (Rehearsal - The Record Plant, Sausalito, CA, 1975) 15. Riverside (Live in Studio - Chalk Farm Studios, 1971)

In 2015 America also released "Lost + Found":
Lost & Found is a rare and previously unreleased collection of songs by perennial classic-rock favorite, America. Featuring original compositions, that have been recorded over the past 15+ years, and now have been mastered for your listening pleasure.

I'm disappointed with this release. A couple of the tracks are duplicates from "Archives," and it's weaker overall than that collection. I thought "Archives" was great; this is just OK. Glad to have it, but it's not what I was hoping for.

That's too bad. Scraping the barrel perhaps?

I have America's first five albums in one of those Original Album Classics boxes, and I enjoy them a lot. Are their demos different enough from the finished product to be worth checking out?

I found the differences between the tracks on Archive and the finished album tracks to be fascinating. You get to see how they developed the songs. And I thought it was very listenable as a whole. Highly recommended.
