News from Billboard today and boy does he look happy: “Bob Seger will be releasing a new album during November, with a first single out later this month. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer announced both on Saturday night (Sept. 9) during a hometown concert at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in suburban Detroit. Early in the show Seger told the crowd that a single was to have been released on Friday but was delayed, then offered the first formal acknowledgement that the album would be coming for the fourth quarter. Seger later promised the single would be out before his next Detroit-area show, closing down the Palace of Auburn Hills on Sept. 23, and that he would perform it that night.
Seger has been working on the album primarily in Nashville. It will be his 18th studio album and first since Ride Out in 2014. A formal announcement about the project is expected during the next couple of weeks.
During the show — Seger’s first at the venue since June of 1996 — the singer also called for prayers for those affected by hurricanes in Texas, Louisiana, Florida and “everywhere that damn things goes.” And before the show-closing “Rock and Roll Never Forgets” he recalled that some of the Silver Bullet Band children joined their fathers on stage at the amphitheater, then known as Pine Knob, and brought out his two children as well as longtime bassist Chris Campbell’s, all now young adults.
Seger recently six new shows to his Runaway Train Tour, including stops in Oakland, Boise, Portland, Seattle and St. Paul before the trek wraps up on Nov. 17 in Chicago.”

I still don't even have "Ride Out". The Target store edition had a couple of bonus tracks which was not available here in Canada, and I've been holding out to get that version.

When Ride Out was released 3 years ago, Bob Seger said it could be his final album. Glad this is not the case as Ride Out was nothing to write home about.

From radio.com:
Few artists personify the sound of the American heartland like Detroit classic rocker Bob Seger.
So it’s with some surprise that Seger has revealed his next single to be a cover of legendary New York king of cool, Lou Reed.
For his upcoming album, I Knew You When, Seger has released his version of Reed’s “Busload of Faith” as its lead single.
“Busload of Faith” was an album cut found on Reed’s 1989 full-length, appropriately titled New York.
As the Detroit Free Press points out, Seger has put his own spin on one of the song’s lyrics, swapping out the word “churches” for “real estate” in what may be a jab at President Trump: “You can’t depend on the president /Unless there’s real estate that you want to buy.”
With his music only just hitting streaming services this past June, Seger has yet to release the new single on any of those platforms yet. The song was sent straight to radio, so tune into your favorite classic rock station and request that they give it a spin.

I like Bob Seger but for the life of me I just can't figure out why he steadfastly refuses to utilize "The Silver Bullet Band" when he's recording a studio album? Does anybody know why this is? Their inclusion simply makes his releases so much more listenable then they are. I know he does tour with them but that's not the same thing. Ever since his Wait for me release in 08 his music has lacked that certain "UMPH" that The Silver Bullet Band gave his music. Currently his studio recordings come off as a little bit too spit and polished to my discerning ears. So does anybody have clue as to why he's choosing to things this way? Maybe he doesn't want to share the tour profits with them?

I've added tracklist and pre-order info to Larry's opening post. The price for the Deluxe Edition with 13 tracks is currently the same as for the Standard Edition with 10 tracks:

Standard release 10 tracks Deluxe release 10+3 (Bonus) = 13 tracks Target special limited edition will have how many more tracks in addition to the above? I'm thinking 2.
Just curious!
