Typing with one hand here.
In addition to my health issues, I am also a klutz.
I burned my finger pretty nastily on a frying pan.
I soaked it in cool water for 5 minutes as I read.
It is burning and stinging which I assume will be the way for 24-48 hours.
I did not use ice.
Any tips on what I can do?
Is mineral ice or Icy Hot a bad idea?

First degree burns are serious. They're the worst type. David is right. Go see a doctor immediately.

First degree burns are the LEAST serious type.
1st degree: red skin 2nd degree: Red and blistered skin 3rd degree: layers of skin actually charred and burned away to expose lower layers.

1. Cool Burn: Hold burned skin under cool (not cold) running water or immerse in cool water until pain subsides. Use compresses if running water isn’t available. 2. Protect Burn: Cover with sterile, non-adhesive bandage or clean cloth. Do not apply butter or ointments, which can cause infection. 3. Treat Pain : Give over-the-counter pain reliever such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), acetaminophen (Tylenol), or naproxen (Aleve).
Seek medical help if: You see signs of infection, like increased pain, redness, swelling, fever, or oozing.

This will sound weird, but it really helps. Buy a Hemorrhoid ointment (anything that contains biodyne) and put it on the burn. It will help immensely, provides almost immediate relief.

Preparation H relieves burns, dryness, chafing, etc. Any skin irritations, not only where the product is intended to be used. Get better!

People use it to reduce eye wrinkles.

Sadly, my health issues are worsening and we keep looking for remedies and whatever meds or herbs can help. It's getting to be so painful every day. I'm at a loss. Fibromyalgia is a silent evil.

What I'm gathering from this thread is you should eat some Preparation H for that. Seriously, hope you feel better!
