I am interested in seeing what is on this, though if the price on Amazon UK is right, I probably won't buy it. £140.99 converted to Canadian dollars is $227, For 5 discs? I don't think so. I'm also surprised that this album was chosen as the first Super Deluxe release for Queen. If they didn't want to just start at the first album and continue chronologically, I would've thought they would go with A Night at The Opera, which I think is their most iconic LP. News of the World was the first Queen album I bought day of release (I already had the prior LPs at that time) and I saw them on this tour, so I really hope the price drops.

There was a post on the Hoffman board saying there is a newly assembled documentary on the 1977 tour with a lot of vintage type footage, so one of the discs is likely a DVD. Sean Magee from Abbey Road was working on a stereo remix so that will likely be included. Will be interested to see what else is part of this. Probably would have to be pretty cheap to get me to bite as I'm mostly into unreleased studio tracks, and I suspect most of the unreleased stuff that will appear on this will be live songs and BBC session type stuff...but we'll see...

It's the 40th Anniversary for this one, so that's why this is first as a Super Deluxe.
As for content, there's plenty of pro-shot footage from the tour that is long available unofficially, so they should definitely have audio/video content there.
Can't imagine much revealing per studio rarities, but who knows.
I never buy these big boxes and I won't start here, but if there's a 2 CD or 2 CD/ 1 DVD version I might.

Hollywood did 2-CD editions of Queen's studio catalog just a few years ago. Even then, the bonus audio tracks for this album were slim pickings.
1. Feelings, Feelings (Take 10, July 1977) 1:54 2. Spread Your Wings (BBC Session, October 1977) 3. My Melancholy Blues (BBC Session, October 1977) 4. Sheer Heart Attack (Live In Paris, February 1979) 5. We Will Rock You (Fast - Live In Tokyo, November 1982)

They were dubbed "bonus EPs" and were very skimpy, but did have all the b-sides.
Hopefully, a 2 CD this time would really be 2 CDs.

5.1 Mix?
Sean Magee is doing the stereo remix and had previously posted the remixing was stereo only. However, it's always possible that he is just doing a stereo remix and a different engineer was hired to do a 5.1 mix.

even those aforementioned 2cd sets did NOT contain the original 12" remixes of songs like "Staying Power" and "Back Chat." SHAME ON THEM!
Let's hope Alan that the new box corrects this.
Those songs were on Hot Space, so I don't think so.
Also, they are abominable IMO.
the ALBUM versions are on "Hot Space" (original, and subsequent reissues and/or remasters), but the original 12" remixes have never been (to my knowledge) released on cd. i actually really like the 12" remix version of "back chat," for the record.

Why would they be on News of the World?
Rick said he hoped they fixed it on the box set and I was letting him know those are from another album which I'm sure he knows but might've forgotten.

Actually I didn't know Pete when I second Alan's recommendation. I was just acting like a politician, approving a vote recommended by my staff without reading the bill.

i don't think either of the 12" mixes i mention should be on the News Of The World set, i originally brought-up those two items as examples on how Queen could improve their catalog.
