Description
Bread was a leading voice in the soft-rock era that took hold of radio waves across America in the Seventies. During an eight-year run with Elektra Records, the California quartet scored unforgettable hits with “If,” “Baby I’m-a Want You,” and its 1970 chart-topping smash hit, “Make It With You.”

Rhino celebrates the band’s incredible success with a new boxed set that includes all six of Bread’s studio albums. THE ELEKTRA YEARS: THE COMPLETE ALBUM COLLECTION.

The set includes: Bread (1969), On The Waters (1970), Manna (1971), Baby I’m-a Want You (1972), Guitar Man (1972), and Lost Without Your Love (1977). Each album is presented in a sleeve that replicates the original release’s artwork. All six CDs come packaged in a handsome clamshell box.

a couple of things:

why is only disc 2 (japan remastered).....where were the other 5 discs remastered?

is this "complete", or is it like that turtles thing and leaves a couple of tunes off?

These sets are almost always a mix of different masterings. Sometimes it's the latest remasters (usually from Japanese reissues), sometimes it's the original '80s issues, sometimes it's CD quality versions of the transfers fed to the high-rez download services...sometimes all of the above in one box. No rhyme or reason. It's almost always a crap-shoot.

The discs in this set are 16/44.1 down samples from the recent HD Tracks remasters.

Too bad they couldn't have added the single version of 'It Don't Matter To Me' to "On the Waters" to make it complete.

I have the first 5 (didn't like the reunion album at all) plus the 2CD ":Retrospective" which has that single version of "It Don't Matter to Me", and some solo stuff I didn't have, and the first two Gates solo albums. So, nothing in this set I need.

The box is available for pre-ordering from all three Amazons, now. The Canadian and UK prices are currently cheaper than the USA price:

I've added the Rhino's description to the first post, and removed the erroneous mastering info that was in their initial solicitation. As Steve W. had pointed out upthread, all of the discs are remastered, not just one of them.

Amazon USA currently shows the box with a November 10th release date, but that will be brought in line with the Canadian and UK release date of October 27th.

Good info Steve, thanks. These sound very good IMO, I just received it from Amazon.canuck for $30.80 ($24 US funds) shipped. Pays to order early, the price went up $20 since then.
