Next week I'm taking my daughter into Brooklyn so she can go to a concert at the Barclays Center. I'm gonna have a few hours to kill while she's at the show. I haven't been in that area in many years and I know it's changed a lot. Does anyone know of any cd shops within walking distance of Barclays ?

Out of curiosity I looked up on Google maps and found https://www.yelp.com/biz/music-matters-brooklyn
It seems to be the closest to Barclays at 1.5 miles. You might want to check out the link and see if it may be to your liking.

A friend of mine owns a store called Permanent Records at 159 20th St. The store was originally on Long Island, then moved to Greenpoint, Brooklyn about a decade ago. Eventually she was priced out of that neighborhood so she set up shop at what I believe is a building of loft spaces. I haven't been to that location because I moved from New York two years ago, but I've heard good things about it. She always had a great selection of CDs & LPs at fair prices, and she's one of the most knowledgeable record people I know. Here's the link to their site:

Rough Trade is in Brooklyn, but not close to the Barclays. I've still never made the journey myself.
