The Who have many non-album singles, and even more non-album b-sides, scattered about in varying quality. Hopefully this is something that collects all of them together with consistent mastering. Like The Doors singles comp, this could be a welcome addition, if done properly.

The Who Hits 50 was very well done but still missed some things.

This could be the ultimate comp and I'm very curious about the contents.

That's what I'm hoping for as well. It would be nice to have all the correct single mixes collected.
The Who's catalog on CD is such a mess with incorrect mixes and remixes that they almost need to start from scratch. Rerelease each album using the correct original mixes as first released on vinyl (mono and stereo where applicable) with bonus disc(s) collecting the variant mixes of all songs from those albums.
A comp (hopefully this one!) collecting all the singles as originally released, with bonus discs collecting all alternate versions of those songs.
And finally a box (or series of boxes) collecting all the various live and bonus material that's trickled out on numerous deluxe and expanded versions of their albums. This should have been done, or at least started, in conjunction with the Who's 50th anniversary. Unfortunately, the team that is currently controlling the Who's catalog seems incapable of doing a project like this correctly.

Weren't The Who supposed to have some type of complete, comprehensive box set released during 2015? Whatever happed to that? I hope this is not the end result. Still would like a complete albums collection on CD with enough bonus discs to capture all the essential non-LP tracks.

We now have an attractive packshot in the first post, along with the official description and tracklist. Universal intends this box to be the CD collectors' equivalent of all the vinyl singles box sets that they've been putting out for The Who over the past couple of years. It features the same new remastering as was done for those vinyl boxes.

Yes, if you want to also have the CD equivalent of those vinyl boxes. Universal doesn't plan to release each vinyl set individually on CD, only this amalgamated package of everything in one box.

I always held out buying the vinyl with a wish for this. It seems to have been granted.

The vinyl set duplicates "Circles" as "Instant Party". I hope that the CD corrects this error.

I'm a pretty big Who collector. Unless we're talking about single edits, which of these songs are appearing on CD for the first time. I'm pretty sure that I have everything here on CD.
