sitting here working on a "yes" comp this morning got me thinking......which band has released the most live material...officially, not boots or off-label stuff, but true live album or songs on a major label.
i am also discounting those whole series of "legal" boots that pearl jam and the dead have done, i think phish does it too.
i know "yes" is up there pretty high.
the allman brothers/
the beach boys?

Frank Zappa? Even some of his "studio" albums are mostly live!

There are lots of studio ones that have snatches of live material or pieces of live tunes or even just the guitar part.
Still not nearly enough
Anyone who wants to go over to Zappateers - there are over 800 complete or partial live shows.

If the Instant live cdr's count - maybe the Allman Bros who put mostly every concert from this century on cdr for sale.

King Crimson has to be in the running, thanks to dozens of vault releases.

Question though - Pearl Jam and Phish - are their releases more along the Instant Live (sic) versus the Dead, where they may be limited, but they are a different model. Many active tour band would dwarf the number of releases discussed considering how they release every show of a given tour. There's a good chance their are more post Dead shows from the various off shoots than GD shows based on that.

While they're nowhere in the top 5, several artists are doing a ton of live downloads on Nugs.net: Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Counting Crows, Widespread Panic, "The Dead" & more.
Nugs has 374 shows from Pearl Jam, 333 from Chris Robinson (Black Crowes), 229 from Counting Crows, 1001 from Gvt Mule, 84 from the full Grateful Dead (that surprised me), 117 from John Fogerty, 719 from Moe, 251 from RHCP, 552 from The String Cheese Incident, 902 from Widespread Panic, 381 from Black Crowes, & 131 from Springsteen for sale! Umphrey's McGee seems to be the Nugs winner at 1309.
+ large quantities from a few bands I've never heard of.
