It looks like it will have three bonus tracks. I am not sure how accurate this web-site is, but with luck it's right!

"A release date of September 15, 2017 has been set by Rhino Entertainment for the 40th Anniversary Edition of Linda's multi-platinum album, "Simple Dreams." It will be made available on CD, vinyl, and Hi-res digital downloads, carefully remastered from the original analog tapes. The original packaging has been preserved, and an extra booklet, containing liner notes by producer Peter Asher, will be included. As a special addition in all formats, three bonus tracks will be included - watch this space for further details!"

I ask again: why has there never been a complete live album from Linda? Surely there must be some tapes from the 70s and 80s in the vaults.

I agree with you about an official live Linda album. There are two or three (maybe more) gray market European releases that are pretty good.

They are on the soundtrack album, aren't they? "Tumbling Dice" and "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" were the songs, I think. I haven't seen the movie since the early 80s so I'm not sure. I think I picked up the DVD last year but haven't watched it yet. Have to do some digging.

Gonna keep my eye on this one.
I wish they'd release the Remington Electronic Razor ad she sung with Frank Zappa and the Mothers. She did all the female vocals.
Worth searching the web for it.
She was always A-OK...a big fan of Little Feat too.

I have very fond feelings for this album. I was about 14 when I began listening steadily to FM radio and the rock stations found there. One station in L.A. one night a week played a new album in its entirety, and this is the first album I remember listening to this way and taping.

I've found several of Ronstadt's albums cheap on used vinyl, and typically they sound great. Simple Dreams is one of her best.

As for there never being a live album, it doesn't surprise me considering her perfectionism. After all, she recorded an entire studio album that was never released.

Does anyone have the Culture Factory remaster of the "FM" soundtrack? Worth picking up, sound quality-wise?

Absolutely not. It sounds abysmal.

I basically bought it for the mini-LP cover.

I have a boot called "Universal Amphitheater 11/03/76". Would love an official live release.

Sadly no.

Linda appeared on a festival album (available on CD too) called Celebration in about 1970. It was a recording of a festival at Big Sur around the same era. On this record we get The Only Mama That'll Walk The LIne and Lovesick Blues. Really fun, energetic performances of the two numbers -- very "country" Linda. The whole track list follows. At the time (I was 14 going on 30 in musical appreciation years :ohyes: ) I was most interested in the Linda and Beach Boys tracks. Circling around a little bit, in California Saga on the Beach Boys' Holland, there's a bit about the Big Sur congregation and Country Joe performing there. Small world, rock and roll....

1. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down-Joan Baez
2. Let It Be-Joan Baez
3. The Only Mama That'll Walk The Line-Linda Ronstadt
4. Lovesick Blues-Linda Ronstadt
5. The Times They Are A Changin'-Merry Clayton
6. Bridge Over Troubled Water-Merry Clayton
7. Wouldn't It Be Nice-The Beach Boys
8. Entertainment Is My Business-Country Joe McDonald
9. Air Algiers-Country Joe McDonald
10. The Law Is For The Protection Of The People-Kris Kristoffers
11. To Beat The Devil-Kris Kristofferson

There was a Linda 4-fer several years ago, "The Best Of Linda Ronstadt: The Capitol Years", her 4 Capitol albums on 2 CDs and each disc had 2 or 3 live tracks at the end of each one.

One of my concert disappointments is I never got to see Linda live on stage. Both me and my wife are big fans (including the Nelson Riddle era) and she just never really toured around here.

Man if I could have seen her in her prime at a place like Westbury.

A must have for Eagles fans also, as Glenn Frey sings lead on "Kate" with Don Henley on drums.
