This will be one of the very few times I ever say anything positive about a giant corporation.

They just boosted my dl speed from 25 mbs to a whopping 60 with no price increase.

Truthfully, I'm stunned. 10 years ago, that would have cost a small fortune. Very cool (most sites I go to can't serve the information that fast; so I don't see as much difference as one would think; but I still find it amazing that they did this at no charge!)

Spectrum (then TWC) upgraded all customers in our area from 25 to 50, from 50 to 100, 100 to 200 last year at no cost. I was fairly impressed with them too. I have the 200/20 plan now for $55/mo now.

Geff hates corporations...except when they boost his connection speed.

their email service is stunningly slow, ridiculously slow. and when you call them they say they know and that he engineers are working on it.

I never have used one either and I work for an ISP.

Wow! I guess we've been behind the times in Wa; I really thought it was a great deal. Comcast isn't guaranteeing anything, but what I'm getting AVERAGES 60/6 for $40 + tax. I'm finding many sites aren't speeding up; that the websites in question are now the bottleneck (we do still have "net neutrality", right?)

Me neither. I use my business's host as my main email provider.

Run a speed test and see what you're getting. You may not be getting the 60 due to outside issues of you may have to reboot the modem or even get a updated modem.

Those numbers are from Ookla speed tests; I'm only supposed to be getting 50 or less. I've occasionally gotten as high as 65, & that's with a VPN! & yes, power cycling the modem was required.

I really don't think boosts in service like this are due to any altruism on the part of the ISPs. Realistically, as equipment is upgraded and capabilities increase it's just more cost effective to bring the lower end up. In some cases with networking equipment it actually slows down the network to support slower equipment.

In many of the markets getting significant speed bumps, they have competition from Google or local ISPs. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. :)

Yeah, I just took the rare opportunity to say something good about a corporation. When the city was my isp, I had no need for a vpn. I definitely do with Comcast (& fortunately it's worked like a charm in solving the potential problem).
