Description
Glenn Hughes, “The Voice Of Rock”, first came to prominence in Trapeze, a band featuring future Whitensake guitarist Mel Galley, and future Judas Priest drummer, Dave Holland. With third album, “You Are The Music, We’re Just The Band” (1972), Trapeze appeared to be on the brink of a major Stateside breakthrough, where they’d been building a large and loyal following. However, in 1973 Glenn was offered the golden opportunity to play bass and sing with Deep Purple, joined by David Coverdale for “Burn”, “Stormbringer” and “Come Taste The Band”.

Deep Purple eventually split in 1976, with its members following various solo and side projects. The first fruits of Glenn’s post Purple career appeared with “Play Me Out”, issued in July 1977. Glenn would go on to collaborate with Pat Thrall in Hughes/Thrall, Joe Lynn Turner in the Hughes Turner Project, with Tony Iommi in Black Sabbath and the self-titled “Iommi” album, plus a prolific of solo career.

Glenn’s fourth solo album, “Feel”, was originally released in 1995, and found the singer veering towards more pop, soul and funk than the hard rock that he’s often better known for. Former Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum guests, and the album also sees a welcome collaboration with his Hughes Thrall partner, Pat Thrall.

This 2CD edition includes a re-recording of Deep Purple’s ‘Holy Man’, originally recorded for the “Stormbringer” LP, plus exclusive acoustic versions of ‘From Now On’ and ‘Lay My Body Down’, plus live versions of Deep Purple’s ‘You Keep On Moving’, ‘Gettin’ Tighter’ and ‘Stormbringer’.

The expanded booklet features liner notes by Classic Rock magazine’s Malcolm Dome based on new interviews with Glenn.

Description
Glenn Hughes, undoubtedly “The Voice Of Rock”, came to prominence in Trapeze, a group which included future Whitensake guitarist Mel Galley, and Judas Priest drummer, Dave Holland. Trapeze were on the brink of major Stateside success, when, in 1973, Glenn was offered the golden opportunity to play bass and sing with Deep Purple, joined by David Coverdale, for “Burn”, “Stormbringer” and “Come Taste The Band”.

With the group splitting in 1976, the first fruits of Glenn’s post-Purple career appeared with “Play Me Out” in 1977. Glenn would go on to collaborate with Pat Thrall in Hughes/Thrall, Rainbow’s Joe Lynn Turner in the Hughes Turner Project, with Tony Iommi in Black Sabbath and the self-titled “Iommi” album, plus a healthy of solo career.

Glenn’s fifth solo album, “Addiction”, was originally released in 1996, and unlike the more pop, soul and funk sounds of his previous record “Feel”, “Addiction” sees the singer returning to a much harder rocking sound. Guitarist Marc Bonilla performs, co-produces and co-wrote nine of the ten original songs.
