You see an expensive reissue cd "Deluxe Edition" of a newer band you've never heard!

When you see the news of a member dying from a band that you never heard of.

To me, it's seeing movies advertised 'starring' people whom I've never heard of, but who are clearly well known to 99% of the population under 30.

You were born during the Eisenhower administration and not one kid today would even know who Eisenhower was.

Bragging about being at Yankee Stadium and seeing Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris in the line-up and the 20 something asks "Who were they"?

Here 's one that happened to my manager and I when we were at a wine tasting and wine from Francis Coppola was to be sampled.

We see two very beautiful young ladies and he makes a beeline to them and states that they ought to stay as they notices they seemed to prepare to leave.
Stay he says so they can sample Mr. Coppola's wine. and they respond "Who's he?". He responds by saying "Of course you know him, he was the director of The Godfather movies" And they look each other and say they I don't that movie.

He comes back completely stunned and relates what occurred. I said, do the arithmetic, they weren't even born when those movies came out. And he acknowledges "Wow, your right"

just last week i quoted a line from godfather I to two of my teaching colleagues, one my age, the other 29 years old. the man my age smiled and got the inference, the 29-year old had never even seen any godfather movie......i weep for them. i truly do.

My two tweenage kids wanted Chick-fil-a for lunch one Saturday. It is across the street from my office and I mindlessly pulled into the office parking lot. The kids say "Dad, where are you going?" And I say "Oh, Dads just having a 'senior moment.' ". To which they ask, "What's a senior moment?"

So I have to explain how Dad is going to get more absent minded and dumber as time goes on because he is slowly losing brain cells. They were both mortified and laughing hysterically at the thought of it.

Hey, don't start with that kind of talk! Remember, you're the junior brother in this family!

When you see sentences like this--"It was 40 years ago today (Feb. 4) that Fleetwood Mac...release[d] Rumours, one of the most successful albums of the rock era..." [Rolling Stone]--and you think for a moment that "40 years" is a typo.

When you forget something and then realize what you did or didn't do.... and literally say out loud, "What a dumb ass."

I do it all the time.

I heard both of these in my b&m record store in my twenties (the 1980's!) . Both were from one teenager to another (2 separate groups of customers):

1. "What was Woodstock"?

2. "What group was Paul McCartney in before Wings"? (Asked as a serious question)

I was jamming to a Deep Purple disc the other day and it pumped me up. So, after lunch break at work, I was talking to this mid-20's guy and asked him if he ever listened to them (he's a music fan). He asked who they were.

When you see a billboard for a supposed pop star you never heard of playing at an arena in my home city.
