In February, the FTD label released a 2-disc reissue of the 1959 Presley comp "A Date With Elvis", including as bonus tracks takes one through twelve of "Is It So Strange", recorded January 19, 1957. Takes two through six--all false starts--were previously unreleased, and were the final, surviving, Presley pre-Army studio recordings to hit the market. There's nothing left.
As for the FTD Sun Sessions box--the problem with that set is that in much of the world, those recordings are considered public domain. One particular UK label, called itself "Memphis Recording Service", specializes in re-releasing public domain FTD product, and almost immediately re-released the FTD Sun remasters.
https://www.memphisrecordingservice.com ... -1953-1955I would agree that UK grey-label product is not the same as owning a legitimate release, and I don't personallly own any of the MRS titles, but at least some of the Presley faithful swear by their titles, so, anyway...but that's why FTD essentially released the Sun material as bonus discs to an expensive, hardcover book--it was the only way to break even on the cost of remastering recordings that were immediately going to be legally bootlegged.
