Description
The first complete Peter Cetera hits compilation ever to feature all his biggest hits, and in their original single versions. #1 songs include “Glory of Love” and “The Next Time I Fall” with Amy Grant. This collection is timed to celebrate his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, along with his former band Chicago. the couple of previous attempts at best-of compilations have proven less than optimal.
i'm hoping for something better this time around.

Saw Peter last Summer at Westbury, he was fantastic. Here's hoping this is a great collection.

I have all of his solo releases so I doubt there will be anything here for me, but I hope it includes plenty of tracks from 1992's World Falling Down, which I consider his solo masterpiece (and one of the all-time great post-breakup albums).

i'm not positive on this, but this might be the the first time 'the glory of love" is on a legit CD.

i don;t think 'karate kid II' has ever been on CD before.

then again, might be totally wrong on this and if i am chalk it up to age :(

Renny...this track wasn't anything unusual. It was on his 1986 album "Solitude/Solitaire" in what I'm guessing, based on the time, is the exact same version.

The only thing this comp has that I don't is "Stay With Me", which is probably my favorite Bobby Caldwell song. Still, it's probably not enough to compel me to pick this up. It's not a bad collection of Peter's Warner Bros. work, though I would have chosen either "Livin' In The Limelight" or "Evil Eye" from his first album and definitely "World Falling Down" (my favorite Cetera solo song).

steve,

i figured it out...

"two looking at one" by carly simon...is unique to the karate kid II soundtrack, and has never appeared anywhere else and has never had an official release on CD anywhere int he world as far as i know.

Renny, "On The Line" from the first album is on here, so that's something. Still, I know what you mean about it being overlooked. The rest of the time he was on Warner Bros., they referred to Solitude/Solitaire as his first album, One More Story as his second, etc. Very strange, particularly since it was a really good album.

jim,

i didn't even notice that.

you know, other than the wounded bird reissue, i don't think the first album was ever even released in the united states on CD. there was a japanese version floating around for a long time, i remember that one for sure.

Not sure why I could never get into his solo stuff, as I love Chicago.

This has "Dan will buy this and play it once" written all over it.

But, I'm gonna try, dammit!

Plus, it's the one featured in that "Ladies love Cetera, so you love Cetera" commercial.

Omits "I Wasn't the One (Who Said Goodbye)," his duet with Agnetha Faltskog of ABBA. Only reached #93 on the Hot 100, but, you know, ABBA.

Would have been an instant buy if it had included "(I Wanna Take) Forever Tonight," his duet with Crystal Bernard. I have everything else by him that I like.

Cetera is an excellent vocalist and one helluva bass player, but I consider his solo music along the lines of Michael Bolton, Michael McDonald, etc.

Adult Contemporary hell to me and a favorite among dentist offices, elevators and supermarkets.

Lucrative, but soulless and those re-recordings of Chicago songs with Az-Yet were nauseating.

Just not my thing at all, but his time in Chicago was awesome and I think he is one of the best bass players in Rock.

That cover art is 1980s truck stop. It might have been taken in the 80s.

Pretty much sums it up. I like some of McDonald's stuff with the Doobies, and his Steely Dan background vocals, but I don't really listen to any of his solo music. As for Bolton, I hate it all.
