To coincide with their 40th anniversary celebrations, ‘The Virgin Years’ sees popular punk band The Members look back to the late 70s and their celebrated period spent with Virgin Records during the apex of the New Wave and Punk scene explosions. The first disc compiled in this four CD boxset is The Members’ debut LP, ‘At The Chelsea Nightclub’, which saw the band break into the UK charts with the New Wave anthem ‘Sound Of The Suburbs’ alongside fellow hit ‘Offshore Banking Business’. Following this disc is ‘1980 – The Choice Is Yours’, another critically acclaimed album that added to The Members’ rapidly expanding legacy. Third disc, ‘The BBC Sessions’, is made up by two rare unreleased John Peel sessions, alongside a version of ‘Physical Love’ recorded for Andy Peebles and a nine track In Concert for the BBC. Finishing this set off is a punk collector’s dream disc, which gathers 11 previously unreleased studio demos including the fabled ‘End Of The Term’, which has never seen the light of day.

I think the first pressing of The Choice Is Yours LP came packaged with a skinny necktie wrapped around it.

I have fond memories while spinning records from these guys.

Steve Lillywhite's brother was in the band therefore he leant a hand for them. Joe Jackson also played on their second album.

I'm hoping Caroline will include the cool bonus tracks that were on the 2005 issues. They did a great job with The Motors so I have hope they will.

Bump: Added the tracklist to the first post. The bonus tracks are included on the group's two Virgin studio albums, plus an additional two CDs' worth of BBC sessions and rarities.

I assume they were with another label by the time they did "Working Girl?" Always loved that song.

I think you are right Glenn, it says 1981 release for "Working Girl". Was released on Arista.

Uprhythm, Downbeat is the third album from punk rock band The Members. It includes one of the band's most successful singles in the U.S., "Working Girl", and the single "Radio", which was a major chart hit in Australia. Although it was released in 1982 in the United States, the record was unavailable in the bands' native Britain until 1983, when it was released as Going West by Albion Records.
